Re: Inconsistencies with coastal orders

It could be clearer, to be honest. After all, 'via convoy' actually means 'via land or convoy'. Wouldn't it make more sense for the Orders Archive to list 'via land' when this is specified? I think that it also may make more sense to flip the default from 'via land' to 'via convoy'. A close reading ...

Re: Inconsistencies with coastal orders

Bulgaria , Spain , and St. Petersburg : These are the only coastal provinces that have two separately identified coasts. A Fleet entering one of these provinces enters along one coast and can then move to a province adjacent to that coast only. The Fleet, nevertheless, is considered to be occupying...

This calls for a Spanish Inquisition.

Ketchup? I don't even eat steak and I'm still horrified.

Re: Support Hold Question

No; the key is in the name; Support "Hold". Essentially, any order which is not "move" can be written as "Hold and ___". For instance, a unit using the "Convoy" order can be Support-held because "Convoy" is essentially "Hold and convoy". But no unit can "Stay Put and Move", so if you try to move, t...

Re: Support Hold Question

CrazyCreeperDJ: Thanks for the question! peterlund is correct. When I first read the rules years ago, I also thought that you could support a unit from being dislodged as long as any move this unit made failed. I used that interpretation in the first few one-on-one games that I played with my father...

It looks like I had to insult bo_sox48 to get my fair share of +1's.

What does this say about the future of webDip? :?

I still don't see how F NWY s F FIN-STP(sc) is different to F FIN s F NWY-STP(nc), and how both should not fail. Does anyone else agree?
Both should actually succeed. I'm not sure why you were told otherwise.

Re: Site wide notices and game tabs

Thanks, Kestas! Unfortunately, the icon from the game tab shows a missing file icon (as ghug just pointed out) and there are also layout glitches in the "Board index"/"Site News"/"Announcements"/"Home" area. I see these issues on both Internet Explorer and Chrome. In the BlackBerry 10 browser, there...

Re: [RESOLVED]Incomplete feature on the new forum

ghug: I understand what a # anchor does. You say that in the old Forum the # anchor did something but in all practicality was useless since it merely reproduced the threadID. That's exactly what I'm saying. When I saw repetition here, I instinctively ignored it. I also understand, for the record, th...

Re: [RESOLVED]Incomplete feature on the new forum

jmo1121109: There is no need to be rude. I "explained how you can get the link that works" myself in my original post at the top of the thread. And frankly, if you're not following, I don't know why you bothered to post in the thread at all. I revived the thread because I was able to reproduce the p...

Re: [RESOLVED]Incomplete feature on the new forum

jmo1121109: Are you sure that you're following? That the "#" anchors in the old Forum do absolutely nothing is more of a useless quirk to my mind rather than a stylistic choice. ghug: How hard would it be to follow TheGoffy's implied advice and do away with the dialog box entirely, replacing it with...

A_Tin_Can was following the conversation. Maybe A_Tin_Can has something to say?

Re: Incomplete feature on the new forum

Now all these dialog boxes have even more elaborate URL's, with a giant "sid=" string in them. What is that about? I'm not sure if that makes the URL's more or less confusing. jmo1121109: If you select all, yes, but that wasn't obvious to me, to the extent that I didn't even notice where I had gone ...

You can turn off the active filter (on the far right) and then sort by max rating.
I had to make a copy in My Drive before I could do that.
