Re: webDiplomacy.net new server

Yep fair point; the downtime was 3-4 hours and I think I added 12? Should have done 24.

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server

I just sorted the last known issue, and had to wipe the map/order cache as maps/orders were being generated with an inconsistent database state causing javascript errors. Might be a bit slow while it regenerates. Keep letting me know when you experience issues; looking at the logs I had rebooted the...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server

A while ago while tuning the database for the new system I did accidentally take the database down for a few minutes, so I think that's all that was. There are logs whenever there is a failure, and I have also enabled logging for slow queries. I made some config changes to make the system use the in...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server

Thanks for the info. When you say lately how lately are you talking about? Is there anything in particular that is repeatably slow? Does it vary throughout the day or is it fairly consistently slow? I've found it's a fairly common issue people have had that queries that used to run fast on older MyS...

webDiplomacy.net new server

Hi all, We have moved to a new server; the last one was several years old and was struggling with new features and the database size. We also are hoping to be able to add exciting features which require more server resources, make use of modern container-based deployment to encourage new developers,...

Re: Server not processing games?

We’ve made some changes to try and prevent the common dead-locking issues and get ready for the new server, and are still ironing out a couple of snags.

Apologies, time was added to all games and processing is resumed, thanks for your patience.

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

The bots are just developing more rapidly than we had anticipated.. Now they’re getting bored with games they’re losing and going into CD, next they’ll start meta-gaming with each other, then multi-accounting. :S

Edit: but the issue should now be resolved.

Re: Bots not entering orders

Thanks for letting us know about this all; this should now be resolved. FYI in case you're wondering what all these certificate errors are about; we use letsencrypt.org which gives free automatic certificates, but they've upgraded their protocol recently and the old software is getting retired in a ...

Re: Bots not entering orders

Hi all, this is because of an SSL certificate error on old.webdiplomacy.net, which points to this server. The bots are using old.webdiplomacy.net and new.webdiplomacy.net so that the server move will go smoothly, but it does mean old.webdiplomacy.net needs a proper certificate. Unfortunately the cer...

Credit mark for Nearly Omniscient kestasjk and please note, Nearly Omniscient Kestas that I was first to give your post a +1. Well I thought people were nuts when bitcoin was booming last and some said "I'm waiting for it to hit $20k" when it was at a mind-boggling $10k, so not so omniscient unfort...

Re: PHP 7.0 - 7.2

Hi Chumbles,
I've fixed the territories on that game, that was a known issue that crept into the cache so still was showing after it was fixed. I'll clear out the map cache which might cause some temporary performance problems but will at least get rid of any of those bad maps.

THanks,
Kestas

Re: PHP 7.0 - 7.2

The good news is after a day of games getting processed there were no other PHP 7.2 issues; I think we're 7.2 compatible now.
