Re: Site Loading Incredibly Slow
Three out of 3 AI bot games turned out "Finished" almost moments after starting. Hmm, I can't reproduce this but I can see how it may be possible if you logged on a long time ago and the last session end time hasn't updated. I've made the unattended game check check whether the user is currently lo...

Re: Site Loading Incredibly Slow
Looks like they were also targeting play.webdiplomacy.net as there were thousands of unattended games. Anyway I've made changes, let's see how it goes. - Unattended bot games are culled more frequently, - per-user anonymous game limits reduced, - only basic functions are allowed for forum users that...

Re: Site Loading Incredibly Slow
Whenever I looked at the running queries it was running several queries counting the number of liked posts users have.. Looks like every time you open a forum thread, for each post in the thread, the system was looking for ever other post made by that user and counting the number of times that post ...

Re: Site Loading Incredibly Slow
Hi all, Yep I had heard that bot games were running slow, haven't had time to look into it but am going to do so now. First thing I notice is that the server load is very high but not sure exactly why at the moment, the database process is doing a lot of work just not sure what it's working on atm. ...

Re: Game Frozen / Not Processing
Sorry all, took a while but I think I've got to the bottom of it. An issue meant some games took a long time to process and this caused a large backlog of games to build up, mainly unattended AI games, eventually causing the server to get thousands of games behind. The unattended bot games were clea...

Re: Issues
Okay I think I found it; a recent change to make us compliant with the latest rules from Renegade meant we had to compute the distance between supply centers and units to determine which unit to destroy in no destroy order was placed. The code that did this which ChatGPT spat out I didn't vet thorou...

Re: Issues
Thanks for being on top of it Darg. Not sure exactly what's going on at the moment, there's a PHP host process that's using 100% CPU for some reason which is causing the game processor to be very slow, but not sure what's causing it to use all the CPU. It's not the game master, not seeing any big tr...

Re: Version 3.0 of DATC published
Thanks Lucas, much appreciated you updating this for the new ruleset. Will try and make the changes required asap. In the meantime I've added this document to our documentation as part of the webDip repo, so you can link to it here if you like, this URL for this version of the DATC will not change o...

Re: Possible bug in sandbox.
Thanks for reporting. It'd help if you could keep that sandbox open and on the same phase so I can troubleshoot it when I get a chance.. RL is has been chewing up all my spare dev / hobby time for the last few months, and probably will do for the next few as well.. It's a shame as the activity/stats...

Re: Diplomacy Angel Fund
I saw this on Facebook, really hope it works out as it would be great to help foster F2F more. Interested where you're centred, the US or Australia? (I feel Australia does a lot of F2F, especially accounting for its size and low population)

Re: Christmas Drawing Give-away
FYI the board games are on the way, I send out one extra one. The mugs are being a bit of a pain as for some reason my account can only go to Australia, but they'll get there I've asked support what the deal is.

Happy Xmas and congrats to all the winners! Looking forward to shipping out some board games and mugs, I have to say the sample mug I got myself came out pretty well; definitely will be happy to have it on my desk at work.

Thanks for the heads up. We don't actually even use recaptcha anymore now that we have the custom map-based bot query, so I'll remove this.

Re: Announcements should only be posted by moderators
Thanks so much for all of the clarifications kestasjk! I was wrong about the existence of Discord-based games -- turns out the one thing I was looking had a Game Master who was manually adjudicating orders 0.0 I'm curious whether this webDip Discord is the official one: https://discord.gg/Q6PtSZc Y...

Re: Are Atheists inherently amoral?
I think religion works well for a lot of people and that's great. As long as you don't push your beliefs on others / judge others I think do what works for you.
No -ist is inherently immoral.

Re: Christmas Drawing Give-away
Sorry if I’m being blunt, but can I ask why? There is no incentive for you to do so (if I understand this right) and someone like me who hasn’t yet donated to the site could easily put in a name and take a prize. Or is it just for fun? Why not? I think it's just for fun. Call it the world I’m livin...
