Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?
Ofcourse Yonni, but I say do both. Scale up renewables and start building plants now, instead of building extra gas or coal plants as some countries are doing to keep up with demand (or even shutting down perfectly fine nuclear plants as octavious mentioned) :( I would like the politicians to invest...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?
Building new nuclear power reactors is not a reasonable choice for replacing the hydrocarbon burning plants in a timescale that is appropriate for the climate crises. As others have pointed out, nuclear has a very strong (if maybe headline catching) safety history and is miles ahead of gas and coal...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?
If the goal is to become climate neutral as quickly and as safely as possible, I personally don't believe this is possible without the use of nuclear power. We simply need it to bridge the gap between now and fully renewable. Sadly wind and solar energy just are not reliable (and not cost-effective)...

Re: First time playing a griefer in this game.
Remember, it's YOU who brought our press into this thread. I didn't until you did. From a third-person view, and since you appearantly are having fun in this debate and value facts, I would like to point out that this statement (from my point of view) is untrue. Your very first post included refere...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
Thanks guys, that is good news. I've made a change so that right after order submission there is now a check to see if the game needs to be processed, but now that I think about it I'm not sure if that's the issue here. The problem is that everyone is Ready and has voted that they're Ready in a gam...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
I agree, if it is an issue and not a coincidence, it is only a small one. The website is already a lot more stable than it was.

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
@Tjappator: - Are you experiencing delays where games don't process for over 30 seconds, or is the problem that games only process when viewed, (and didn't you find that games would only processed when viewed before the server move as well)? Are you experiencing this issue mainly/exclusively with b...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
Did you create those games, Tjappator? I saw that last night in the anonymous classic game I created. I think it is an effect of this: Okay I've changed the functionality so that when a player sees that all members are ready it leaves a hint/flag for the gamemaster to process it next round, rather ...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
It could be a coincidence, but I have noticed this 3 times now:
-A game updates at the exact moment I open the link to the game to look at my orders.
If you want the specific occurences, you would have to DM me, since they are anon games.

Re: Cancelling convoy
You have understood this wrong. Your question is a bit unclear. Unit A being attacked has no impact on move/convoy orders given to unit A. But since you are asking about convoys specifically, I will answer that question. My advice is to either do bot games, or watch some youtube videos on the rules....

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
I have the same : games stuck with all players ready: https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=366078 It's not stuck, it will process IF AND ONLY IF the timer for the phase has reached 0. It just doesn't recognize that all powers have readied up and are ready to go to the next phase ahead of time.

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
Ah thanks I think I missed that. Okay, I think this should be straightforward. Good news that it seems smoother. Are there any pages in particular or just in general? Votes previously caused an immediate process in the board code. The api/board code is best to tally votes/orders but not a good plac...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
It indeed appears to run smoothly now.
However games with all players ready are not processing before the time is up. They do process after the time expires.
My guess is that you disabled the path where readying up allows to process games?

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
I currently have a player match which is not recognizing that all the players have readied up. I am the only player that has retreats and I have readied up. So perhaps there is now an issue there?

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
Thanks for coming up with some ideas Tjappator, but we're pretty confident this is due to locking issues, and we're fairly confident that is because the query optimizer has changed a lot since the system was written and there may be some queries that weren't designed with locking in mind, and we're...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
Addendum: I used https://www.uptrends.com/tools/traceroute For example, especially from Europe (Berlin, Amsterdam) the traces either contain time-outs or take almost 2000 ms in total. When I try to do a trace from my own pc (for those that want to do this: in cmd type [tracert webdiplomacy.net] with...

Re: webDiplomacy.net new server
Is it perhaps just simply a routing issue?
I tried doing routing tests, but the results are quite weird. It seems like the packets are bouncing back and forth for quite some time in roughly the same area.

Nice read, I just used it to correctly predict a move on turn 2. Or at least I'd like to think it helped :)
