Is Douglas Southall Freeman really that well known in the South?

Sheesh, and people *cough*Jamiet99uk*cough* thought my pick was out there . . .
Hey, I've never heard of the guy until now. I only found him via a process of elimination.

Re: XX Questions, Game LXII

It was a tough one.

I think we fixated on "job" because each time you said "no" it did nonetheless feel like we were narrowing it down.

New game is up:

Also, I know it goes against instinct, but could the sheepdog theoretically guard themselves to survive the night?
Bodyguards cannot normally self-save (because it does not make sense).

Guess: Is it Douglas Southall Freeman ? He appears to fit all of the criteria. He was born in 1886 in Virginia (which I believe is classed as being in the south), he was a native English speaking US citizen who was not known for any of the listed professions, and he won the Pulitzer Prize for Biogr...

I am working through the Biography category. Thought it might be Emory Holloway, but he briefly served with the US army during WW1.

Re: XX Questions, Game LXII

I have checked the Pulitzer winners up to 1980, I found 3 that were on the cover of Time in the decade they won or the one after: Norman Mailer, convicted of assault Robert Coles, Air Force captain Carl Sagan, scientist Guess we'll need to look further. You checked multiple categories, that quickly?

Re: XX Questions, Game LXII

The Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction wasn't introduced until the 1960s and reading the recipients up to the 1980s, very few of them were born early enough.
