Re: Pronouns in Account Bio
At the beginning of a press game, a default message in the global chat saying simply "We encourage our users to share their preferred pronouns for this game" or something like that would be helpful.

Re: The 2022 Online Diplomacy Championship
Wasn't trying to shame this one at all! Bigger isn't always better. These have all been massively impressive tournaments - kudos to everyone who's taken the time to organize them.

Re: Rulebook Press
I very much like being able to negotiate during builds and retreats. I don't see a reason to get rid of it. However, I also see why we'd want to speed those phases up. The best solution, imo, is what they do on other sites and let build/retreats be a different phase length than the others.

Sounds like you're talking about Edi Birsan.
And I don't think you can convince me otherwise. The WebDip World Cup getting a Wikipedia subsection is definitely funny.

Re: The 2022 Online Diplomacy Championship
I was trying to find past results and found this:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interna ... _Diplomacy
Feels pretty hilarious that there's a serious wiki page talking about this. Also, VI is it correct that VI is Canadian? Thought he was south of the border.

You're missing a heck of a lot of players. For example, bo_sox48 is ranked 21st on your list but is 46th overall according to his profile.

Re: Criticism of the Lepanto
If I'm England, and Italy offers to open west, there would have to be an especially weak Germany for me not to join the attack on France.
And likewise if I'm Germany. Maybe even more so if I'm Germany because, once France is gone, the G-I alliance is quite nice.

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?
I don't think storing spent nuclear fuel in a deep geological repository is as large of a technical challenge as you believe it is. I also think that the scale and immediacy of climate change is greatly understated in your comparison to the dangers of spent nuclear fuel. (But I likewise don't have m...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?
What's the cutoff for global emissions percentage that a country needs to hit to care about its own emissions? 5%? If that's the case, the you only Indian, the US, and China caring and combined that's less than 50% of the global emissions. 1%? If that's the case, then Australia is included. Ballpark...

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?
@MM, enriched thorium isn't a thing. Thorium also needs to be used with another fissile fuel. I agree that we should seriously consider thorium but most of the benefits require some amount of fuel reprocessing which has an associated weapons proliferation risk.

Re: New FP Game
It also doesn't mean a whole lot comparing RR between people who play a bunch of GBs and/or live games or a single FP game once in a while. With a decent FP game you can always get a pause if you need so people barely ever NMR.
