Re: New Board UI testing

Oh, I didn't think that was a dissenting view. Strongly in favour of territories changing colour. It's so much easier to see what's happening on the board.

Re: New Board UI testing

Good points, gimix. Another thing I noticed is that the press is no longer labeled with the date or game phase, just time. If you only want to use one of date and game phase to keep things clean, I would strongly suggest game phase. I often find it quite important to look back to see what phase pres...

Re: New Board UI testing

I was very nervous when I saw this post because I seriously have a soft spot for our map here. It's how my brain pictures the Diplomacy board. But big kudos on the test board. It looks really great.

Re: Pronouns in Account Bio

At the beginning of a press game, a default message in the global chat saying simply "We encourage our users to share their preferred pronouns for this game" or something like that would be helpful.

Wasn't trying to shame this one at all! Bigger isn't always better. These have all been massively impressive tournaments - kudos to everyone who's taken the time to organize them.

Almost at 7 full tables now. Some great names in the list - let's get some more WebDippers in.

Re: Rulebook Press

I very much like being able to negotiate during builds and retreats. I don't see a reason to get rid of it. However, I also see why we'd want to speed those phases up. The best solution, imo, is what they do on other sites and let build/retreats be a different phase length than the others.

Sounds like you're talking about Edi Birsan.

And I don't think you can convince me otherwise. The WebDip World Cup getting a Wikipedia subsection is definitely funny.

Re: The 2022 Online Diplomacy Championship

I was trying to find past results and found this:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interna ... _Diplomacy

Feels pretty hilarious that there's a serious wiki page talking about this. Also, VI is it correct that VI is Canadian? Thought he was south of the border.

You're missing a heck of a lot of players. For example, bo_sox48 is ranked 21st on your list but is 46th overall according to his profile.

Re: Criticism of the Lepanto

If I'm England, and Italy offers to open west, there would have to be an especially weak Germany for me not to join the attack on France.

And likewise if I'm Germany. Maybe even more so if I'm Germany because, once France is gone, the G-I alliance is quite nice.

Re: Nuclear power: yes or no?

I don't think storing spent nuclear fuel in a deep geological repository is as large of a technical challenge as you believe it is. I also think that the scale and immediacy of climate change is greatly understated in your comparison to the dangers of spent nuclear fuel. (But I likewise don't have m...
