I found Dalos's 1985 but couldn't find where it might reference Emmanuel, so I really wasn't sure - but he seemed like the right kind of character.
One edition happened to have Google Books Snippet View available, so I was able to search the book for references to 'Goldstein'.

Ah, yes, the questiobn was "series", and the 1984 thing I referenced was just one episode.
