It was 1985, by György Dalos. Apparently there is more than one 1985 novel based on 1984. I used this article to find it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_ ... s_in_books
Of the books in the list I posted, I could only find two that seemed to have any sort of "sequel", 1984 and Brave New World. Huxley wrote a non-fiction essay on BNW, then wrote a "utopia" version called Island, but it seemed to be a different world. I found Dalos's 1985 but couldn't find where it might reference Emmanuel, so I really wasn't sure - but he seemed like the right kind of character.
One edition happened to have Google Books Snippet View available, so I was able to search the book for references to 'Goldstein'.

Ok, I'm gonna take a stab:

_1984_'s Emmanuel Goldstein
Yes! I wasn't sure whether to pick Winston or Julia, but went with Goldstein, since I haven't read the book in many years and thought that Goldstein would be easier to answer questions about.

WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
Woo-hoo! Would not have gotten it if you hadn't made me go back and reread the wikipedia page about the TV thing. I've actually never read _1984_ but your note about "bad guy"/perspective seemed to fit.

What was the other obscure novel you mentioned where he was referenced? I though it might be _1985_, but wasn't sure.

New game will start tomorrow morning!

Someone already guessed that, I think... there was also a TV adaptation of 1984: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_(Wes ... tudio_One)
Be careful. Did the question I answered ask about any TV adaptation?

Was the novel made into a Television series?
No. This was the 20th question!
Ah, yes, the questiobn was "series", and the 1984 thing I referenced was just one episode.
