Yeah, I was looking through lists of movies from the 60's, 70's, and 80's last night and there were a few that popped out at me.

Tron had an animated series.
Howard the Duck was a Marvel comic book before he was in a movie.
Starman (84, Jeff Bridges) seemed interesting, as well as DARYL. When I had those two, it seemed like a good idea to narrow down the character's origin.

But could not find a suitable character.

I'm pretty stumped. A non-human but human sized fleshy skinned male without superpowers from a SF movie from before 2001 whose title contains the name of the character....
