Good one. Conducting an orchestra definitely makes him part of a group. I would not agree, though, that writing a work that eventually gets performed by a group, makes one part of the group.

I actually had his Wikipedia page pulled up as a guess based on prior answers, with the "2 Tonys" answer I searched the page, saw the match, and knew it was him. Writing works for orchestras and musicals definitely qualifies as being 'in a group' in my book.

That's as good a guess as any. He has won two Tonys (not, interestingly enough, for West Side Story). Hard to classify him as being part of a group, though. He wrote with several lyricists, but none of the partnerships lasted more than the one project. If they were not in Musical theater, my question is "Is this person famous for playing music (as a singer or using instruments as opposed to composer/song writer)?
