FWIW, I'm from Canada and am familiar with Robert the Bruce, so that answer would not bother me.

I'm familiar with him only because of Civilization VI, which seems oblique enough that'd I'd not expect most people to know him.

Subjective if he's 'best' known for USA activities, but a considerable enough portion.
