Great article BrotherBored! (or should I say swordsman?) Up until reading this I was completely convinced of the necessity for England to open east. On a previous gunboat game Russia had opened north and shut me out of Norway. I was traumatized. I already suspected England was the weakest nation on the board and now my suspicions were confirmed. Since then I resolved to never be blocked from a 1901 build as England. But your article opened my eyes to new possibilities

This isn't an exhaustive analysis of all possible openings, but my analysis of the openings that I typically see in my matches. I do answer the question of which opening I consider to be best and why.
