I think I'm going to change inactivity to be 1 year when I get the April data. 3 months is way too short.

@Mercy

"I never played a Classic non-live game, yet I am considered 'active' under this rating system. I don't complain though."

I don't see that. Doesn't look like you're listed in the "classic" tab at all.
Ah I see, I was looking under the General tab.

Now, I am listed under no tab at all, though, but I guess that is because I haven't completed any games in a while.

Finally had a chance to look at this

@Mercy

"I never played a Classic non-live game, yet I am considered 'active' under this rating system. I don't complain though."

I don't see that. Doesn't look like you're listed in the "classic" tab at all.

@Chluke

Unfortunately, that means it is filtering non-live games correctly. Sorry.

@CCR

mhsmith is right, there is a tab for 1v1

It's on the link, right now you're rank 21 out of 296. I'm actually hopeful that I'll get something of a boost in the next 1v1 rankings; I basically batted .500 this month, but did it almost entirely against people ranked higher than me. We shall see...

Yonni, the 1v1 players would like to see a GR2 1v1 ranking...

There's no need to give 1v1 games any weighing to the general ranking; just a separate ranking for the 1v1 games, applying GR2 methodology!

(Sorry if it already happens i've been very disconnected for a while)

Good catch. Looks like it doesn't filter non-live properly. I'll fix it for whatever the next month is.

Man, did I drop like a rock in GRv2 "Classic" ... vs GRv1 Classic
Hoping that non-live filter fix floats my falling 'classic' rock, because I stink at live games. :)

I never played a Classic non-live game, yet I am considered 'active' under this rating system. I don't complain though.

GR uses six months right now, actually.

Re: March GR2 Published

by Yonni » Wed Mar 14, 2018 2:53 pm

Ah, you just haven't been active. You can change the filter to include "inactive" and then you show up.

You last completed ranked, FP, classic, non-live game was November 25th, 2017. I use the same 3 month filter for active that GR1 uses. I think an argument could be made that it should be longer. Maybe even 1 year.

Not completed 7 games out of 386 is unlikely Yonni...

Re: March GR2 Published

by Yonni » Wed Mar 14, 2018 12:27 pm

Is it possible you haven't completed 7 games that fit the criteria of classic? If that's the case, you're still considered "provisional" and won't be shown in the rankings.

Whatever the imperfections it's interesting to see. Thanks for the work on this, Yonni.

There should just be a different score for each game type, combining them is kinda meaningless.

Re: March GR2 Published

Which is why gunboat in GR used to be weighted significantly less, same with live games. With the overwhelming focus being on classic press games.
They still are weighted less. I can tweak them more if that's what the general sentiment is. Is 1v1 that much more detached from diplomacy as a gunboat game on the world map? I don't know. This seems like a contentious topic - maybe the best way to resolve this and legitimize GR2 is with a poll about weightings. I'll make one before April.

You enjoy this game?

I knew you were twisted, but wow...

Everything on this site is for fun, is it not?

Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

1v1 isn't diplomacy
Neither is goonbat

1 v 1 is entirely meant to be a "for fun" alternative to live games. Which is why the owners made the decision to restrict it to unranked. The point farming was not the main or only factor in making that limitation on the games. Many people make 1 v 1 games as a communication tool or to get around silences to still talk to specific people. And it does not make sense to have games like that included in any ranking system.

It still has aspects involving multiple players and some level of coordination.
So does Hungry Hungry Hippos :)
