Which articles? In which publications?
Just sticking to your country, try searching for these in your favorite search engine:
"blas de lezo" site:thetimes.co.uk
"blas de lezo" site:bbc.co.uk
"blas de lezo" site:bbc.com
"blas de lezo" site:independent.co.uk
"blas de lezo" site:ibtimes.co.uk
I mean all of those articles are from 2014, and about an argument involving a commemorative plaque, but ok.
Not all of them. There are BBC articles from 2000, 2011 and 2009, and an IBTimes UK article from 2015. And I didn't include articles from Travel sections or publications dedicated to history.

He is famous in his own right, mind you. Not many 18th Century military commanders regularly get articles written about them today in the popular press. The main issue was that you all focused on the 17th Century.

Absolute fucking bollocks.

JECE needs to explain how this person is famous.
I already did:

Blas de Lezo died not long after the Battle of Cartagena de Indias, in which he repelled one of the largest amphibious invasions in history with a small force.
But I understand, of course. British people are very sensitive when it comes to remembering national humiliations. ;-)
Sorry, there was no need for me to be that salty.

You know, I've been seeing those threads for ages and I've never bothered to learn what the game is about.
it's about your teammates using maximum brainpower for minimum purpose, while you singlehandedly solve the game

I should be pursuing a PhD in Iberian studies to even begin comprehending why, as a British person, I should feel national humiliation. On top of that, the event took place before 1707.
@JECE, how did you come to know this person? Every one of us can come up with a historical figure drawn from the abyss of any obscure historical event.
I said the above in jest, but there is something to be said for how British historians skip over the Battle of Cartagena de Indias. News of the defeat was supposedly suppressed in London, but it nevertheless caused the British government to collapse after what was "one [of] the most exciting and memorable [parliament debates] ever heard" as of 1907.

The event, for the record, took place in 1741, well after 1707.

He is famous in his own right, mind you. Not many 18th Century military commanders regularly get articles written about them today in the popular press. The main issue was that you all focused on the 17th Century.

Ah, so he was a kind of Spanish Nelson who made his name in some Imperial squabble in the Americas where a bunch of Brits turned up, got sick, and left?

Not the most well known of historical figures, but he does seem to definitely qualify. The game needs a few trickier ones.

Who the FUCK is Blas de Lezo y Olavarrieta??

He does not even have a Wikipedia page in English.

HOW did you expect us to guess this random, obscure, person?

This fails the dart test by about 1,000 miles.

In 1980, UNESCO declared Fort San Lorenzo, together with the fortified town of Portobelo about 30 miles (48 km) to the northeast, to be a World Heritage Site.

No offence JECE but this game collapses into shit, if you just name random very minor figures that nobody has ever heard of. That's not fair.
