Re: Mafia 88: Murder at the Meadery - GAME THREAD
I'm going to be traveling today. It seems incredibly likely I will gone for the rest of the day. So if anyone has burning questions get them in before the end of this hour, after that I will be unavailable.
So I guess I will just have to trust Cop here.
While of course we want Vecna to be Mafia, even if they happen to be Miller it is a good flip because then the rest of the Cop's guilty scans will be confirmed.
Overall, I think sheeping ghug is an incredibly good idea. He was accurate on many things, and probably just everything.

Poor Miller!Vecna,
At least he is using his last few hours to solve like crazy and leave a legacy that we can follow when he flips.

Just reiterating my Day 2 Vecna take for my friend Vecna:
Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 4:57 pmI am going to stick with my Vecna vote, I think. @Vecna, if you are town, then it means you just genuinely wanted to be my friend. And I shall feel remorseful. And I shall be your friend forever. [heart hands]

Sweet said Ghug was probably right about everything and we should sheep Ghug's reads.
Sweet also says Vecna is caught scum.
But Ghug townread Vecna.
So these positions from Sweet are in conflict.

(It would be a slip if, for example, some of Ghug's other reads on other living players are *wrong* and Sweet wanted to set up people to sheep Ghug to the wrong answers, and forgot Ghug was towning Vecna).

Sweet spoke about this same conflict in his posts. So, it doesn't appear to be any kind of slip to me. If you have reasons why you think it is something that Scum!Sweet would say, but not Town!Sweet, I encourage you to share them.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 7:37 pmIt's very basic.Balki Bartokomous wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 7:28 pmI think you misunderstand my post.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 7:27 pm

I missed the "100% (except Vecna)" part in one of his earlier posts.
You are very observant for someone who has coasted today.

M88 Day 5 Final Vote Count:
Vecna (8): sweetandcool, Jamiet99uk, kingofthepirates, Balki Bartokomous*, bozotheclown, Hamilton Brian, BunnyGo, DiplomacyandWarfare*
sweetandcool (2): Bonatogether, Vecna
==================================================
Gartel Gripfoot had formerly been a Mountaineer. He had been well respected for guiding travelers, pilgrims, and guards up into the mountains. These adventurers sought bounties, treasure, fame, or seclusion - but for their own reasons, they had come to Gartel. But even the most sure-footed Dwarve will occasionally stumble, and Gartel was lucky to have survived the fall.
The local clerics had done what they could, but Gartel had never been able to afford the gold to bring himself a full recovery. When the Foreman had approached him with an offer of 10,000 gold, Gartel did not even need to think about it. With that money, he needn't be healed - he could live like a king!
The Foreman was dead now, and Gartel had no choice but to continue the mission. He planned and pondered with Olim and Qarl and they thought things would go their way. The seeds of doubt they had planted looked to bear fruit. Halfway through the counting, Qarl gave a worried look toward Gartel. Olim was red-in-the-face drunk. They could tell what was coming, even if the others couldn't.
Gartel went to his fate meekly. Despite his role in this conspiracy, he had his own form of Dwarvish honor, and he would not betray his comrades and their dreams.
Vecna has died. He was a Mafia Goon!
Night has begun. Continue to not post.

M88 Night 5 Interlude - Funeral Rites
After Gartel's hanging, the workers became reinvigorated. The saboteur's body was burned, while burials were prepared for their fallen friends from the prior day. In typical Dwarven fashion, a large number of rocks have been gathered. They joined their fellows in a makeshift burial plot in the field near the beehives - for now, it was the best they could do, until the guard lifted their isolation.
And so rested Arven Artellien (Spartaculous) and Wulf Twice-Branded (worcej).

M88 Night 5 Interlude 2 - D&D
So in my last D&D session, the party basically spent 4 hours shopping, meeting some NPCs, and gathering information. It dragged a little. But then they decided to go some taverns to see what the local discussion was, and they wound up at a high-class tavern called "The Gilded Gelding," which features a large golden horse statue standing over the central bar.
This statue animates, turns, and locks eyes with anyone entering, as sort of a security system - when people are unruly, it will literally kick them out and say "Neigh!"
They were in this bar looking into some local political intrigue (basically, three of the seven Archons of the city had been challenged and replaced) and the Rogue used her rabbit familiar to sneak under a table of some people who looked to be having a tense conversation. The rabbit rolled a nat 20 on Stealth and then a nat 20 on Perception to overhear the discussion, which turned out to be a big deal.
The party learned that these two were Changelings and were discussing recovering the body of one of the failed challengers to the Archons, and mentioning that "1 is not as good as 2, but 1 will do," which they interpreted to mean that one of the new Archons was also a Changeling.
The Bard used True Seeing to see that the Changelings had some of the shapeshifted Slaadi henchman with them that they typically have (this is the group's second run-in with these types) and then the party quickly hatched a plan to alert the guards and then attack the shapeshifters. The Paladin used Command on two of them - "Revert!" and despite both enemies having advantage, they had bad Wisdom scores so both failed the save and reverted to their true hideous forms:
They will open next session with them fighting the Slaad + Changelings. However, the golden horse statue considers all of this to be "horseplay" and will attack them all as it tries to move the fight outside.
It's going to be fun.
