09 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1901: Everyone please note, this is a Gunboat variant game. In this variant there is supposed to be no communication whatsoever.
09 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1901: All comms are now shut down :)
09 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1901: France and Germany messaged me. Not responding, cite rules.
09 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1901: Was before the global msg -.-
09 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1901: Not trying to be snippy, just trying to follow the rules myself. So uh, *shuts up now*
10 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: Isn't it a shame there's not a flag when creating a game to define it as "No Press"? Then (regardless of whether you think the game title makes it obvious) nobody would be able to communicate. "No Press" is better than "Gunboat" anyway, as SOME groups of Dip players take Gunboat simply to mean "anonymous" (can't see who the players are) but NOT "No Press", unless that is also specified of course. Therefore just putting Gunboat in the title doesn't specify a full rule set. Just sayin', 'tis all.
10 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: Fair enough. I think variant controls are in the works for phpdiplomacy but not here yet. This is the only online site I've played at so have only heard Gunboat being equivalent to no press.

When I first heard the term I looked it up on wikipedia and under diplomacy(game) it says "'Gunboat' rule applies which means that there are no discussions" for whatever that is worth. But clearly if there is a segment of the online diplomacy world for which Gunboat means something else, I'll certainly use a clearer title when starting a gunboat/nopress game in the future. Thanks
11 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: It's always the same... Austria not playing, two people can loot him and they have a big advantage... sigh...
