27 Dec 08 UTC Spring, 1901: Good to have you guys all here for the League of Nations!
I wish you the best of luck and hopefully we'll all have fun!
28 Dec 08 UTC Spring, 1901: This is my first time playing Diplomacy via this interface (I've done a reasonable amount of games on the Judges), and I've just got a quick newbie question - if I enter orders but leave them unfinalised, do they count as "entered" and get processed when the deadline comes? And if we all enter orders and finalise them, will the game process orders before the deadline?
29 Dec 08 UTC Spring, 1901: I don't know about leaving them unfinalized, but if we all finalize our orders before the deadline, it processes them and goes onto the next turn
29 Dec 08 UTC Spring, 1901: No problems, I'm always happy to hear about new players on the website.

1) If you enter your orders but don't finalize them, they will not get processed when the deadline comes. Instead, the interface will give all your units the "hold" order.

2) If everyone finalizes their orders before the deadline then the orders are processed. This means that the deadline will be reset (not according to the previous deadline but instead to when the last person finalized his/her orders) So it is important to check the game after you've finalized your orders (but before the deadline) in case everyone else has as well.
29 Dec 08 UTC Spring, 1901: Ah - thanks. :) I'll make sure to finalise before I go to bed, then (as the deadline is at about 3 in the morning for me)
29 Dec 08 UTC Spring, 1901: No problem, =)
29 Dec 08 UTC Autumn, 1901: It seems we have a dead player. Although him being near me might prove useful, I think it is quite annoying overall. What should we do in such a case ?
29 Dec 08 UTC Autumn, 1901: Is there any way to see the board _without_ the moves on it?
30 Dec 08 UTC Autumn, 1901: No way to see the board without moves on it.

Yeah, missing a player is very lame and this is one area that phpdiplomacy doesn't really have any way to deal with efficiently.
All we can really do is wait til he goes into civil disorder (if he doesn't move this autumn then he will go into it) and then hope someone takes over his country.

If you guys want we can pause the game after he goes into civil disorder, or if you don't we can just play without him. His SCs (and the ones he should have had if he'd done his moves) will be split three ways so it doesn't have as great an effect as it could.

Still, it sucks.
30 Dec 08 UTC Autumn, 1901: GameMaster: Hoolie586 was banned (probably for having more than one account), and the game has been paused so you can find a new player to take his place if you want to.
Enter /unpause into this Global chatbox tab to vote to unpause now, and the game will be unpaused once everyone has voted.
