29 Jun 11 UTC Autumn, 2002: [Europe]:algonquin?
29 Jun 11 UTC Autumn, 2002: [Brazil]:Damn. I coulda been born in Quebec City, or San Francisco, or Paris, or Istanbul, or Kyoto, or French Polynesia. Instead, I'm born in the friggin' American Midwest. I'll be portaging an SUV over godforsaken cornfields this summer.

Have fun, Kenya
29 Jun 11 UTC Autumn, 2002: [China]:Brazil, move to the coasts! There must be a correlation between how far one is from water and how interesting that place is.
Sounds awesome Ken. Remember to be safe! Otherwise we won't be able to un-pause.
30 Jun 11 UTC Autumn, 2002: [Ghana]:Living in the Canadian plains, I wouldn't say it's an uninteresting place. Mountains are quite cool, and give you lots of things to do. Being in the really flat American Midwest wouldn't be so fun, though.
30 Jun 11 UTC Autumn, 2002: [China]:Mountains are the best. It can just be maddening to live in a beautiful place if there are no PEOPLE around. Then again I bet living in the South Pacific wouldn't be so bad.
30 Jun 11 UTC Autumn, 2002: [Russia]:Hey Kenya, have fun in your portaging :).
01 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2002: [Ghana]:Starting Sunday, I'll be gone for 9 days. I'll be able to access the Internet, but only for a few minutes each day, and only via Iphone. I don't want a pause, as that's too troublesome for everyone, but please be aware that I won't be able to talk much - speaking of which, does anyone know a way to scroll up in chat logs if you're on an Iphone?
01 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2002: [China]:Ghana, I have that same problem on my Droid. I haven't found a way to fix it but I found that at different levels of magnification the amount of text shown changes.
03 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 2003: [Kenya]:OK guys, my portage is tomorrow. (Monday-Thurs afternoon).
As I mentioned a few days ago, I'd like to pause for a day or so, it should only be 1-2 phases, and then we can restart thursday afternoon.

I think this will also make things easier for ghana while he's away as well.

I dont think this will disrupt the flow of the game, its certainly better than having a major power go cd.

If people will vote pause, then tomorrow morning when i leave i will as well, and the pasue wont start until then, after everyone has voted to pause.

Then if you all unpause, then as soon as i get back i can unpause and restart the game.

As i said, it should only last 1-2 phases.

Thanks again, much appreciated!
04 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 2003: [Kenya]:OK, my pause vote is in.
Hopefully I wont get back to find I was forced into
See everyone in a few days
04 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 2003: [Russia]:HF Kenya. C'ya soon :).
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [Frozen-Antarctica]:I don't see how this game is fair. Kenya and NE aren't around. It's unfair because this game should have been paused. Anyone think we should cancel the game?
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [Brazil]:I'm open to a cancel but I won't complain if we don't get it.
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [Europe]:i'm out anyway but i'll press the cancel button
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [China]:Kenya is around, he's messaged me. If he decides not to move that's his right. And NE is currently 7th biggest out of 10 remaining powers, so whatever.

It's obviously shitty but I'd rather gobble them up and fight the remaining superpowers for a win than just cancel.
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [Kenya]:we're not cancelling this game

if people cant even take their heads out of their ass long enough to vote for a pause, then they wont vote for a cancel either

this game will either end when china/oz steam roll everyone, or it will end when everyone stops oz/china from steamrolling the rest of the planet
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [China]:How dare you sir. It's not my fault PR didn't show up. And you're not exactly a pygmy power.
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [Kenya]:Well, thankfully while I was away the pygmys didnt take over my empire.
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [China]:Haha. Now I feel racist.
10 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2003: [China]:Hurry up everyone! Only 26 more hours for builds! Never again doing a 48 hour game, especially a non-invitational.
24 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2005: [Ghana]:South America: Battleground of the shades of red!

Seriously, though, it's quite confusing. I spent a few minutes thinking of what the Argentinian unit in Recife would do until I realized it was American. The colours aren't /that/ close, but they're close enough, especially on a small, low-res screen.
25 Jul 11 UTC Autumn, 2005: [China]:Come on Ghana, with the resources of a great nation, can't you get an HD monitor?
27 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 2006: [Ghana]:Well, I have two HD monitors. It's just frustrating when I'm on my Iphone.
30 Jul 11 UTC Spring, 2006: [USA]:hi, I'll be out for a week and I don't know if I will be able to access the internet. May you pause this great game, please? Thank you very much!! See you soon.
31 Jul 11 UTC [China]:We may! Hope you manage to enjoy a place without internet.
31 Jul 11 UTC [Frozen-Antarctica]:Paused. Sorry I'm late.
08 Aug 11 UTC [Kenya]:are we going to unpause this game ever?
or draw it?
10 Aug 11 UTC [China]:I would consider a draw. This is getting annoying.
10 Aug 11 UTC [Ghana]:Well, I'd much prefer it if we unpaused, let the natural course of things finish off F-A and then drew. But whatever works.
10 Aug 11 UTC [Kenya]:the only issue with a draw right now is that we need everyone to vote to draw

most people are totally vacant it seems

10 Aug 11 UTC [Russia]:I'm agree with drawing this game.
11 Aug 11 UTC [Kenya]:usa? oz? argentina? china? brazil?

we need to do something with this game, if we dont hear from people soon, i'm emailing a mod to ask for an unpause
11 Aug 11 UTC [Frozen-Antarctica]:If we all agree on drawing, I am content with that.
12 Aug 11 UTC [USA]:hi, I'm back... and I'm sorry too because I was out more than I expected...

I'm reading you want to draw... I agree too.
12 Aug 11 UTC [Kenya]:I'm leaving for a week long camping trip tomorrow...we may as well keep the pause for now, and when I get back we can ask a mod to either draw this one or unpause it.
Does that work for everyone?
13 Aug 11 UTC [Near-East]:let's just end this one.
13 Aug 11 UTC [Ghana]:I'm interested in seeing things through, but won't oppose an ending. For me, the game finally got interesting last turn.
14 Aug 11 UTC [China]:Eh. I just moved and would really like to have one less game to worry about. Too bad! This is when the game gets interesting. Stupid server switch.
15 Aug 11 UTC [Ghana]:You too, China? I'm in the process of moving myself. Well, honestly, I'd prefer if all my games finished, but I have a 2 week/phase game that isn't ending any time soon so it doesn't bother me to run this one as well.
17 Aug 11 UTC [Frozen-Antarctica]:I'm assuming you two are moving for college. I'm not, but my brother and sister just did. And I'd say go for another turn or two, simply because I only have 1 center. It's not fair for me to get the same amount as everyone else, especially those 10x bigger than me.
17 Aug 11 UTC [Near-East]:it is broken out by how many centers you have. You can see what you are worth below.
17 Aug 11 UTC [Ghana]:I'm not moving for college, actually. Just moving around to a different place in the same city.
17 Aug 11 UTC [Ghana]:Also, does cancel give money back broken down by centres or something? I don't think I've ever cancelled on webdiplomacy......
17 Aug 11 UTC [Near-East]:cancel just returns orig. bets I believe
17 Aug 11 UTC [Ghana]:Even to players who have already lost? Huh. Thanks.
18 Aug 11 UTC [Kenya]:we have 3 ppl who still need to unpause...oz, usa, brazil.
Any of you guys still around?
19 Aug 11 UTC [Frozen-Antarctica]:Actually drawing the game does split the money evenly between all alive players.
23 Aug 11 UTC [Kenya]:OK. Its clear that those players are not here.
Does anyone mind if I email a mod to ask him/her to cancel this game?
23 Aug 11 UTC [Near-East]:yes, let's end it.
