sorry Heartland, I think I reacted too late to the threat of Peru (and also didn't understand the nature of the threat - those arctic fleets doing nothing for a while hurt) |

ooh, we actually could have had Vancouver that turn to stay alive! but I think we would have been dead immediately afterwards anyway so it doesn't really matter |

It was very hard to see that 17 years later attacking California would result in a Peruvian solo by force, I don't think you did anything wrong Quebec, we just couldn't contest the seas at all. |

Yeah, one of the quirks of this format is that it's surprisingly hard to defend against a solo from the south (usually the Mex/Peru survivor). And it's almost impossible when both CA & FL have been eliminated. Combos of BC/HL/Que/NY just don't have the leverage to defend against naval advancement. |

good to know! I assume that's part of why the win condition is 34/58 instead of a simple 30/58 majority? |

also fair enough Heartland - I guess part of the reason I said that was because I was preoccupied with whether you would stab me or not, and then when I saw your obvious intent signals I realized I was missing the bigger picture |
