18 Apr 21 UTC Autumn, 1904: until that last turn, you had a decent advantage. it's not completely over now
19 Apr 21 UTC well played - I mixed it up and it didn't work out
19 Apr 21 UTC Notes: if you're going to use a fleet to take SPA, BRE does it in two moves (-> MAO -> SPA), same as MAR, so theoretically you can then use MAR for a different build e.g. an army. Didn't really matter in winter 1901 in this game but I've seen you do it a few times so I thought I would mention it.

That being said, because I didn't expect you to go to SPA, I tried to bounce you in TYR in fall 1902 instead of taking TUN, which was worse for me and better for you.

You did well in fall 1903, countering my double cut move in Germany. After that is when I started to get worried, as I hadn't invested in clearing out VEN.

Another note: without a fleet, your two armies could have stalemated all of Italy just by doing PIE support hold VEN forever, which would have severely hurt my chances to win this game. My only counter play would have been to risk trying to leave TRI open for another fleet build. And with this locked down, you would have been able to focus on Germany and the north and push me back before I could reach 18+.

This is because this game is won generally by controlling 4 centers: TUN, MUN, BER, StP. Austria aims to control 2+ of these centers and then everything else on their side of the stalemate line, which is all of Italy, and everything else easy of MUN/BER. Controlling 2 of those and all the others is exactly 18 centers.

So if you prevent me from getting any part of Italy and TUN, suddenly I'm missing 1 battleground center and 3 "must have" centers, that I need to replace from somewhere else. In this game, my 2+ centers would have come from MUN and BER probably, but I only had NWY and StP to replace all of Italy, so I was 1 center short of getting a win (most likely) if you had blocked off Italy, or at least done so until you had time to progress in Germany.

Overall you keep improving, I think our other game "FvA Rerun" was also favored for you until you pulled back in 1903.
19 Apr 21 UTC yep - need to get some 'bottle'
