12 Apr 08 UTC Autumn, 1903:
They are much better than the Sharpe novels... accurate historically and very cleverly constructed.
12 Apr 08 UTC Autumn, 1903:

Will France miss his move, having lost his Blackberry at T5?
12 Apr 08 UTC Autumn, 1903: heh, a good few cock-ups last turn.
13 Apr 08 UTC Autumn, 1903: I have to remember that Venice is spelt Ven and not Tus...
15 Apr 08 UTC Autumn, 1904: Just bought the Flashman novels today - I'll have to start them soon.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Would someone care to bring up all treaties and their expiry dates? Can't remember most of mine.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: The Glorious Republic of France has NAG pacts expiring with Germany and Italy at the end of 1905.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: What about Russia and Italy? Do you remember when our NAPs expire?
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Extremely odd thing just happened in that I was followed up on Brutorix's post about metagaming using the following link:

http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=3197

This showed the game - but also somehow logged me in as you!! I am on a London PC at the moment, so your password will not be cached. I also can't remember your password and deleted the mail.... so extremely odd.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: perhaps worth speaking to kestas about,.... if it's possible to breach the security in the game then it compromises the integrity of the whole thing.

16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: seems to occur if i include the "www." ,,, but if i remove that bit of the link then it takes me to the game as myself.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Ok - that's odd! It implies that the security isn't that great... Well done for not looking at all of Brutorix's messages. Now come and tell me them in private chat!
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905:
Reading the above, is "you" refering to Brutorix? If so, that is most odd.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: actually - you is referring to Mr Flashman..... (was meant to be chatted in priv).... but no harm in everyone knowing.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Cool, did you get my bank accounts also?

The only thing I can think of is the link to the other game (touch)... we communicated directly regarding that one. Could a bridge have been left open?
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: i guess it must have been. (before any gets suspicious I helped Flashman access a password protected game that he was having problems getting into by logging in as him and joining the game). Will try and clear all my history/caches with this site and will hopefully be ok going forwards.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: anyway, back to the game.... when exactly the NAPs with Russia expire? i think there was an invalid 5 year treaty that would need to be re-ratified for example.
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: You mean Germany-Russia? It must have expired by now...
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Must have expired by now.... and I heard rumours there will be a mutiny if the russian navy don't get a summer holiday somewhere nice ;)
16 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Germany-Russia lasts until the end of 1906 if I'm not mistaken.
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: I, Russia propose a three year-extension of the Russo-German NAP terminating at the end of 1909.
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: i propose dolla dolla bill ya'll - peace out
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: I accept Russia's proposal.
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Coward!
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: The Great and Honourable powers of France, Russia and Italy have agreed on a three-way NAP to sart from Spring 1906 and last for a full three years. Let the rest of Europe beware!

Sir Harry Flashman (Generalissimo to some rather stylish royal...)

17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: ER, did I say Russia?

I meant Turkey. Sorry, must have been the pillow talk with that rather nice little Svetlana.

It is France, Turkey and Italy!
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Essentially, the Treaty reads as proper:

The Great and Honourable powers of France, Turkey and Italy have agreed on a three-way NAP to sart from Spring 1906 and last for a full three years. Let the rest of Europe beware!

So Italy and Turkey have signed.
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: Hmm - revealling your subconscious there Sir Harry!! France also ratify this treaty. May we all make hay in the Med this summer.
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: I think london should remain a free state, to attack it would invoke the displeasure of sir patrick O'flanigan. then his wife will never make me pies again. :(
17 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1905: if you leave london alone, I'll see if i can score you guys some pies
18 Apr 08 UTC Autumn, 1905: I'll go 2 pie suppers, extra vinegar, 1 mushy peas and a pickled onion pls.
18 Apr 08 UTC Autumn, 1905: Watch out, she has probably been watching Sweeny Todd...
18 Apr 08 UTC Autumn, 1905:
There appears to be something of a general strike in my lands, nothing can move. Most frustrating. I blame it all on anarchists and other such agitators from the north!
21 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1906: It seems the general strike has hit the Northern industrial powers...... Blast the unions and their communist co-conspirators. As much as I like to expand my empire I'd rather do it against a worthy advesary.
21 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1906: Very honorable. I applaud you.
21 Apr 08 UTC Spring, 1906: Cheers!
22 Apr 08 UTC ok - so this is a password game..... so CD countries won't be taken over unless we advertise. As it stands we have a 3 way NAP which leaves Russia on it's own... if someone joins they'll need to be aware of the rules, but seems harsh that will immediately face Italy/Turkey/France.

Suggestions welcome? I think we need to get someone in or hope Brutorix rejoins.
22 Apr 08 UTC I welcome the chance to die an honorable death in battle against the odds. History will remember me as a hero. The Tsar says, "Let them come!"
22 Apr 08 UTC other option is we reduce existing pacts slightly to reflect the change in balance of power. Mind as Russia you cannot attack Germany until 1909 under existing treaties... which pretty much leaves you screwed.
22 Apr 08 UTC This is a bit of a bummer,

I can only attack Germany, England and Russia because of treaty obligations. Germany though is not being played... So that is me against two powers in distant corners of the map. Great for defence but not much help for imperialistic dreams...

However, as you have noted, getting a new player on board would be very awkward because of the existing treaties...

Could we not draw this one and start again with a new seven. Austria would probably want to have another crack, so we would only need one new recruit.

I do not see the game being much success if we continue as it is.

The only route that would prove interesting is that of trying to establish treaties to stop us all acting like vultures over Germany.
22 Apr 08 UTC I'd still rather not lose all that investment in time to start out again.... so suggest that we call all treaties null and void after this turn and start again from Spring 1907. This gives us at least some time to prepare new alliances etc,.
22 Apr 08 UTC Yeesh - that'll be interesting. I would be game for either option. I would understand if Flashy and Russia didn't want a null and void clearance of all treaties, but at the same time the problems with getting a new player involved in the game will be very large indeed! Who is going to want to take over a country that is about to go into a feeding frenzy?!

Harsh on Austria, but perhaps a draw is the best option. I suggest all units hold until we work out what to do.
22 Apr 08 UTC Austria was dead before the problem occured - so i have no issues with not being including in the draw. Let;s put it to the vote then:

I vote we continue but with all current treaties expiring after this turn, due to "unforeseen circumstances".
22 Apr 08 UTC (i could even be persuaded to let Russia break their treaty with Germany this turn to make things interesting.... but i think that should be up to cgwhite32 to make the call on, as would effect you the most.)
22 Apr 08 UTC Can vote for both options? I mean, I am Italy anyway.
22 Apr 08 UTC In the meantime, everything of mine is just holding. No supports, just holding. I will vote for a draw. I really do think we need to get the full set of players on board because of the nature of the variant.
22 Apr 08 UTC I'm of Italy's opinion. It is a massive shame, but I think that to press on from here would not really be that good news. It worked quite well, and I would be up for a third game on this variant which is really quite good.
22 Apr 08 UTC I will participate in a draw if it is called. I will order my troops to hold until that matter is resolved.
23 Apr 08 UTC ok - tyranny of the majority..... draw it is.... grrr!!!
23 Apr 08 UTC posted agreement for a draw on the forum.... 3 of you need to sign-up. Assume the pot will be split 4 ways... minor consolation.
