19 Feb 21 UTC Now that was some real gunboat indeed!
19 Feb 21 UTC Good game. Sorry to take you out Turkey, although I think your life got extended by my error in entering moves in spring 1912, which allowed England to block my way to Armenia.

Well played France for skillfully preventing first the English solo and then my own weak attempt.

I don’t think English solo would have been a threat if not for my order error
19 Feb 21 UTC Ignore the last paragraph, which is from an earlier draft :) I should stop doing this on phone.
19 Feb 21 UTC Austria: in the beginning, I was hoping you would understand I was going for key Lepanto from the army and fleet movements. Greece supporting move to Bul in Autumn 1902 would have led to a very different outcome.
19 Feb 21 UTC Well played Italy, I made a fatal mistake in Autumn 08, failing to destroy your fleet in East Med and better positioning my fleet/armies around the Black Sea, I had no chance to survive after that :)
19 Feb 21 UTC Thanks. Your defense at the end game was quite impressive, I was close to moving away in 1914 so as not to permit a solo. I think if England had not moved out of Armenia, and France performed a bit better, that may have been the outcome.

I was actually quite worried that you would make a move into ION in Spring 1908 and 1909. I think you may have also been better of prioritizing Buda-Ser, or at least keeping me out of these, instead of the stab on Russia.
19 Feb 21 UTC @England: did you consider an unorthodox attack on Turkey to try to "run" with the solo? e.g. Arm-Syria, Sev-Arm in 1914, and hoping that Turkey would throw the game?
19 Feb 21 UTC @Italy: yes. I felt like my position for many years in a row there, I had nothing to lose in trying to creep further along and eventually initiate a solo win run. I had nothing to lose it seemed? I was sure if I failed it would just result in a draw anyways, not a solo for anybody else or my elimination.

So because I was getting away with it, I thought perhaps if Turkey tried to throw, and I got one more eastern center somewhere, I could win without Iberia or Marseilles. I was really confident I would be stopped from taking any of those there number 18 simply HAD to come from the East. That never materialized as you eventually countered me, but that’s what I was angling for.

I actually only made that lunge towards France in a panic I was about to be attacked. Until then I was content to just find out how things played out in the East.
19 Feb 21 UTC The screenshot of purple Piedmont and pink Armenia is quite a moment for a high level pickup gunboat game.
19 Feb 21 UTC Then why move away from Arm instead of going to Syria?
19 Feb 21 UTC And yeah, I don't understand why Russia stuck around Tyr and Pie, harassing France and I while getting picked off by Tur/Eng on the sides.
19 Feb 21 UTC Autumn 1911 was when I was really considering an attack on France, but with Tur holding up my fleets in the east, and the two of you working together, I decided I wouldn't be able to build up enough firepower and settled for a safer path towards the draw.
19 Feb 21 UTC I moved out of Armenia in spring 1915 believing correctly that the move would fail, trying to signal to turkey or give Turkey a belief that I was a benefactor and not an enemy. Maybe I would sneak into Ankara by surprise instead of force. But turkey collapsed the same turn and didn’t try to throw to me as far as I could tell, so the following turn I moved out because I would nervous of getting outmaneuvered by Italian units.
19 Feb 21 UTC Got it, thanks!
19 Feb 21 UTC First I was surprised England didn't support hold SEV to stop Italy's progress. When this didn't happen, I saw my unique possibility of reaching the Draw by "inviting" England into Arm, in order to get Italy to support hold my unit in SMY, in a Tunis kind of way, to avoid England's solo.
19 Feb 21 UTC Gg all!
