05 Jan 21 UTC Good game all and especially great game to Austria!
France, sorry about the anti-French opening... glad we could sort it out. Personally I find France a larger threat to England than Germany, especially at the start. Perhaps I continued my offensive slightly too long?
Germany, can I ask about your thoughts when attacking me? You don’t have to tell me, I’m just curious.
Russia, I am curious as to your reasoning for holding out in Finland, were you trying to give me back Sweden? I probably should have come to your aid, sorry about that.
Old Italy, if you are still watching the game, you seemed hesitant to attack any of your neighbors, and you did well in your defense against France, I probably would have given up far earlier in that position.
New Italy, you did well to try to prevent the Austrian solo, although it failed in the end.
Turkey, you did well holding out in your home centers for many, many years, another position which I may have lost much sooner.
Austria, Austria, Austria... well played! I seriously had a hard time holding out in Germany, and my efforts eventually failed. You did a fantastic job taking advantage of the Russia-Turkey conflict that emerged early in the game. Congratulations!
Me, I probably should have devoted more units to defending Germany and less to attacking France. That’s probably the reason Austria soloed, isn’t it? Sorry everyone (except Austria ;))
Good game all!
05 Jan 21 UTC Good game folks, and great post game summary England. I certainly benefited from the early alliance with Italy, probably more than Italy did early. The two big breaks I had (I think) was Turkey being forced to disband their last fleet in 1903, which locked them into a land power and allowed me to focus on Russia. Especially after I let RUS into BUD in 1905, thought that may have been beginning of the end for me.
Then England fleets rather than armies in the German cities in the late game was a factor.
Good alliance old Italy, nice try to block the solo new Italy. Glad I saw the rake-over in time and switched my convoy to Apulia rathe than original target of Naples!
Good game, well done England.
