29 Oct 20 UTC Russia, I am surprised you agree to a 4 way draw. There was significant prospect to take out Italy from the draw (I think both England and myself had this in mind after reconciling), and some chance for a Russian solo in the ensuing chaos.
29 Oct 20 UTC In fact, I considered taking off my draw vote but did not want to pre-signal an attack.
29 Oct 20 UTC I tend to be too pessimistic in endgame situations like this one. My calculations were that after losing the Venice/Trieste guess, Italy had the upper hand on me in the South and I was just as likely to be cut from a 3 way draw as any other power. Thinking a bit more about the North Sea disband, I should figured that a continued E/I war was likely and at least let the game go for one more phase.
29 Oct 20 UTC The only way I solo is if E/G stab, though. Even if you two never coordinated well enough to force StP, I was never picking up Tunis or any German center. England's Nor s Fin-StP hurt almost as much as Tri-Ven.
29 Oct 20 UTC I agree that the solo was unlikely, but not impossible, especially if Italy decided to throw the game after being cut out. On the other hand, the difficulty of the solo would have incentivized England and I to attempt to take out Italy.

I don't see how you could have been cut out of a draw at this point. That would take a lot of pushing back, and it is likely that England would stab Italy or I in the meanwhile.
29 Oct 20 UTC England has no armies. I could have built in Sev instead, walked out of StP, and shifted everything South without risking any more damage from E/G. So much for Italy's "upper hand" then! Definitely a mistake by me. I'm kind of glad in a way, though, since Italy is the only reason I survived the first decade. We had such a good run.
29 Oct 20 UTC I think once we took STP we could probably form the draw line at Berlin-Munich-Mar-Spain. I had plenty of armies and a convoy line at BS but some understandable trust issues :)
29 Oct 20 UTC Good game, all. I agree that I was the most likely one to be cut out of the draw. I was hoping that I could stunt Russia's growth enough to bring them to the table without collapsing my line against E/G. Not sure how long I could have held.

Russia, I was frustrated that you completely shut me out of Turkey. Had you let me have Smyrna, I wouldn't have been antagonistic towards you. Any additional builds I got would have been used to guard my backside from a Russian stab, but I would've remained friendly, supported your hold in Munich, and thus allowing you to potentially gain some traction up north. Not that I'm questioning your decision to take all of Turkey, but that's how it impacted my decisions.
29 Oct 20 UTC Thanks everyone!
From the E perspective:
Great working with you Germany. I really only wanted Belgium back from you but that started the little tiff, glad we moved on from that.
Well done Russia, I thought you were going to all the way so it was vital I blocked a fleet build in St. P with a sneaky support order ( blows own trumpet:) )
Thanks Italy, sort of, I was hoping I could get a foothold in the Med but once that was thwarted I put in the draw vote.

Cheers everyone
29 Oct 20 UTC I was wondering about the half-hearted stab without armies :) I thought we had traded Belgium for my support into SPT. May have read the signal differently if you hadn't hit Hol, or built in Lvp instead of Edi. I worried that you hit your expansion limit in the Mediterranean and decided to take me out.

On my end, I had considered a stab earlier but I wanted to weaken Russia more / establish a foothold across the stalemate line first. I am quite fed up with these games ending up in a draw most of the time, so trying to get creative to go for a solo.
29 Oct 20 UTC Didn’t pick up on the St. P idea and that would have extended me to far in the north to hold I thought. I was hoping to head into the Med but missed a turn of moves in our minor squabble. I also was ready to go a bit further and make it a stab but when I saw you disengage from the Russian attack I backed off.
29 Oct 20 UTC Yes, my defensive strategy was to put Italy in a strong position against you in the south, while threatening to throw the stalemate line to Russia.
29 Oct 20 UTC It worked!
