13 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: It was a good run, Russia, but I think your solo aspirations have now been dashed. Unless one of us three is foolish enough to stab another and open it back up, your path to 18 is closed.

The rest of us have our draw votes up, and I think we've reached a stable end point. Shall we call it here?
13 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Good play from all. I respect it, and I am enjoying this fight. You may well be right, Germany, as the diplomatic success you all had last year, backed up with good tactics, is complicating the expansion of the Russian empire. But I do not think I am ready to draw yet.
13 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: If you think there's more game left to play, by all means, let's continue. I did not mean to advocate a premature end to the game.
18 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Hey all, I'm gonna be a bit busy the next couple days. I asked for a pause; if it's not granted I will do my best but I won't be very responsive, unfortunately.
18 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Moderator: (Szpoti): Dear Players,
On request of one of the players, this match has been paused till Wednesday. Objections to the pause should be sent to the webDiplomacy Moderator Team at
18 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Fine by me!
19 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: As a courtesy to whoever requested the pause, I'll respond to press after the pause.
19 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Ah yes, I should've also mentioned I was saving my press until the end of the pause.
22 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Moderator: (Szpoti): Unpausing now. Game on!
22 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Yay, we're back on!
22 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Thank you all for putting up with the pause! Appreciate it. I didn’t realize I had to vote unpause for them to unpause a couple days later than necessary but here we are. Let’s play!
23 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Always happy to accommodate!

But yeah, from what I've heard, it's typically best to send the mods a follow-up email to remind them to unpause it when ready.
23 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: I actually asked for my own pause to expire this morning on Sunday. That's why it was extended until today
23 Oct 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Mods did a great job here :)
27 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: I thought that might be the case
27 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: You gave it a great shot! And knowing you, you will continue to ;)
27 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: Oh I don't know, I think this is a pretty comprehensive
repudiation of my strategy.
27 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: On another note, for the US based players here let’s remember to vote this week! (If you haven’t already). Especially if you are in a more contested province. My state could be considered a home supply center of one of the parties. But still worth voting!
27 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: On the topic of voting... it could also solve this persistent war issue we're facing here... :)
27 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: Agreed on voting!
27 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: I won't influence your vote, of course, but please do get out there and do it - see if y'all can do better than the paltry 53% voter turnout we managed over on this side of the pond the last time we were given the chance...
27 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: No, please do not influence the election. That is my job.
29 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: Idk if this is meta-gaming, revealing one of seven identities I am not, but congrats to TheFlyingBoat for your successes at Tempest!
29 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: @Russia the joke went over my head the first time I read it but now that I come back to it I finally got it. Bravo haha
29 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: Although it is not always what you or the other players want to see, is it breaking any rules to reveal your identity in press of an anon game? Doubtful right. Certainly in this case I don’t think anyone minds knowing who Germany is not. Congrats TheFlyingBoat! And thank you France.
29 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: It is not against the rules to reveal your identity in anon games. Only thing you can't do is discuss ongoing Gunboat games (which includes revealing identity)
29 Oct 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: Ooh I am so excited for the fireworks at the end of this phase. There's nothing quite like watching half your units go up in flame :)
01 Nov 20 UTC No one:
02 Nov 20 UTC Good game!
02 Nov 20 UTC Good game all! Way to slip in there with the draw vote, Russia! :)
02 Nov 20 UTC Good game all!
02 Nov 20 UTC Damn woke up late and couldn't pull the draw vote down. Oh well GG.
02 Nov 20 UTC Definitely sucks since with Italy's moves your solo was pretty much guaranteed, but I can't complain!
02 Nov 20 UTC Gotta say, I'm not quite sure how I made it, but very pleased that I did!

Well played all!
02 Nov 20 UTC Agreed @Peregrine. No way I don't solo from this position. Can't believe I overslept
02 Nov 20 UTC Took a small hit to my GR because of it haha
02 Nov 20 UTC I don’t know. Italy would build at least 2, not sure if it would be enough to secure Tunis, but even so if Germany accepts/believes my support for Berlin, which I would have offered, you wouldn’t get that one either. But I was done lol
02 Nov 20 UTC Ziran, were you throwing?
02 Nov 20 UTC Stalemating Berlin is easier said than done. And although I certainly would've considered any offer from you, Russia, I might not have necessarily taken it. The line of being included in the draw was still very slim.

And yes, Tunis wasn't yet guaranteed. But there would've been a series of guesses for it, which if Italy lost any, Tunis would fall. It's possible Italy could've gotten them all correct (I've seen it before and it's an amazing sight when it happens), but unlikely.
02 Nov 20 UTC To clarify my statement, I'm not sure if I'd've been willing to throw away my chance at revenge if I still thought the chance of me being eliminated was high. I suspect France would have pulled back to allow my elimination had it come to that.
02 Nov 20 UTC Correct. I think odds of me getting the solo were incredibly high. With an army about to be placed in Naf I think the likelihood of Italy winning the necessary guesses to stay afloat were very very low
02 Nov 20 UTC Ah shit I forgot about the convoy. Yeah Tunis was lost.
02 Nov 20 UTC Well no. It wasn't lost. Actually, looking at it more closely, I think Tun was more defendable than I had thought at first glance. There was definetely a chance Italy could've set up a defense for it.
But yeah, France still had so many openings, and any wrong move would've been their solo.
02 Nov 20 UTC The reason I didn't see it when I was glancing earlier was that I hadn't factored Alb and AdrS into my calculations. IonS-Tun, AdrS-IonS, while Alb takes Greece for a second fleet build (And maybe even Smy-Con for a third) would've given Italy a decent defence with some flexibility to react to France.
02 Nov 20 UTC But anyway that's sorta moot now!
03 Nov 20 UTC Yeah
03 Nov 20 UTC Austria, about why you survived, imo it was by being a really fun, honest, and scrappy player. After you didn't tap albania for me, my plan was to work with Italy to eliminate you eventually, but I specifically didn't want to do it until Germany was finished, because I wanted to make sure that if France tried any funny business, the draw would be larger. (Clearly not enough leverage lol). But key to that seemingly strategic choice was that I had very little trust in France, and on the contrary, found it hard to have beef with you.
03 Nov 20 UTC I'm not sure whether my game would have gone better or worse had I gone with the AR, but I certainly think I would have enjoyed it more! I lost a lot of interest in this game after that (poorly thought out) stab.
03 Nov 20 UTC Well I appreciate it, certainly! I enjoyed this game thoroughly, even though I didn't do quite as well as I'd hoped - at one point I had never done better as Austria :)

But the last couple of years were tricky. When I didn't tap Alb I definitely wasn't expecting Russia to carry on to try and destroy Germany at all costs and thought the draw was coming. Plus Germany and France did better against you in the north than I expected, meaning you weren't as close to the solo as I'd feared. So I needn't have worried about tapping Alb... suddenly I'd screwed over the one of the two of you with any reason to keep me alive. I have to say I'm amazed that Italy and you didn't squash me immediately, but I guess there were other priorities... suits me, I guess!

Cheers everyone :)
03 Nov 20 UTC Well i was gone pretty quick, but i enjoyed it! Thank you everyone!
