14 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: Who talks about attacking? Just skiing... and Euh, what about Turkey? Very alive...
14 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: Oh right and I actually think they aren’t dead yet. Instead they are both in key positions.
14 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: Turkey has never attacked me, ever SC of mine he's ever taken was with permission.
14 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: I hope to survive.
14 Feb 20 UTC Spring, 1907: What, never?
19 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: My draw vote is in.
19 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: Good game everyone.
21 Feb 20 UTC Spring, 1908: not until you are completely out of Germany. No top board for France is a preliminary condition for a draw.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: So, are we ready to draw, Austria? Or do you still stand by your groundless demand, based on nothing but an oversized ego?
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Lets draw
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: No thanks.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Still working on your plan to invade England?
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: no, waiting for Germany to die.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Give Berlin to Turkey, and I will vote Draw.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Why exactly do you think I would agree to that? I think the issue with your demands/threats is over and over again your lack of leverage...

Applied to the present situation. A solo is out of the question either from Turkey or me, I am topping the board, and so I have the best possible result under the circumstances for the tournament. Why would I want to please you by killing Germany and giving Berlin to Turkey?

If you really want to force me into making certain moves, you need to deprive me from my position. Perhaps if I no longer top the board, you would force me to make the risky moves you want me to make. So what if you give Ser, Rom, Bud, Tri and Vie to Turkey - in an organised way assuring the stalemate line - to get him to 15?
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: PS: Just to be sure, 2 years ago you demanded that I would allow you or Turkey to kill Italy. Focus shifted to Germany now, or you still want both of them dead?
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: of course I want both of them dead, because they both played like shit and deserve to die, nothing more, nothing less. not a thought at all to tourney scoring.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: I disagree but understand. Still, if you want that, you need to get some leverage and force me there.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: this is why I hate France, this fake bullshit, sweet nice ridiculous condescending tone of voice, and worse that fuckers like Germany and Italy actually listen to it, it's such crap. Fuck you France.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Germany, played like complete shit, made a horrible game changing stupid stab against Russia, then totally stabbed and gutted by France, then refuses to retake Munich with the help of Turkey and Austria, an obvious move, 100% chance to work, yet refuses to do it? What you like sucking up to the guy that stabbed you?
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: just to give SC to the guy that stabbed you? it's totally irrational Germany, you're a fucking total moron. played like total shit the entire game.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: I refuse to draw, just to be annoying, fuck you all.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: If you hate me, that is good. It means I’ve stood up for something, sometime in this game.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: If this was SoS scoring, Germany or Italy would have played an absolutely disastrous game. But it is not. Instead they both are in two key positions.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: no draw until they are both dead.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Just so you know, I promised Germany I would support and continue to support him in Ber if he gave up Kie, which Germany then balanced against Austria's and Turkey's proposal of him moving Ber-Mun and Kie-Mun with your support.

The fact that Germany opted for my proposal and trusted me more, is probably the result of (i) Austria having insulted Germany a couple of years in a row already, (ii) Austria and Turkey not wanting to draw until Germany was dead, and (iii) Austria's and Turkey's suggested moves risked Pru S Sil-Ber and losing Ber.

If you are surprised by other players' moves, the best thing to do, rather than insulting other players, is to self-reflect and try to find out where you made a mistake or missed an opportunity.
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Gosh...

Anyway, truth be told I reckon this game has run its course. A six way draw will never feel great, but (as anyone who has ever tried to bully their family into playing Diplomacy over Christmas will know) trying to keep a game alive when most of the players have lost interest is a recipe for disaster.

Well played, all. Truth be told I thought Germany and Russia were playing with fire, but you can't argue with results and they are still here. Very nicely done, Italy. France and Austria, you have both been extremely entertaining in your own way. I don't know whether a highest centre count point is worthy of celebration, but I guess it's better than a kick in the teeth. Well done.

Right, that's all she wrote, folks. Let's end it :).
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Thanks and congratulations to you too Turkey. I also agree that a highest center count is nothing to be proud of in itself. The aim was and should be to get a solo in the masters, but when that’s not possible one needs to take solace in matters of secondary importance, which can hopefully matter a great deal at a later occasion :-)
25 Feb 20 UTC Autumn, 1908: Good responses by France and Turkey. Thank you France.
26 Feb 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Im still standing!
26 Feb 20 UTC Spring, 1909: Likewise!
27 Feb 20 UTC Spring, 1909: yeah yeah yeah
01 Mar 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: Here departeh friend Germany. The man who stood.
01 Mar 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: It was an interesting strategy. It didn't work out, but I guess there's no guarantee that doing something different would have worked either. Cheers for being a fun player :)
01 Mar 20 UTC Autumn, 1909: I will make a longer comment directly to the other players.
05 Mar 20 UTC The plot thickens...
05 Mar 20 UTC TOP BOARD TO...

Fuck you France!
05 Mar 20 UTC Gool Peran Lowen!
05 Mar 20 UTC Never any doubt, Austria :p
05 Mar 20 UTC Well played, all!
05 Mar 20 UTC Calm down Austria. If this makes you happy I am happy for you. Only thing though: you say top board? I think you mean solo. I thought your idea was you didn’t like to throw games?
05 Mar 20 UTC it's not a solo, it's 16. It's a draw, but in the unique scoring of this tourney, Turkey gets .1, you get ZERO, same as England, Germany, Italy, Austria, etc.

I just find your sickly sweet false nice talk incredibly annoying, so I screwed you over, and YES, this makes me very happy indeed.
05 Mar 20 UTC Oh didn’t see the draw! Good play! Glad you wanted to keep Italy alive!:-) Octavious I thought that was you!

Congrats to all here. I might post an EoG analysis a little later.
05 Mar 20 UTC don't bother, no one will read it.
05 Mar 20 UTC Thank you Austria - never lose your temperament. It is too enjoyable:-)
05 Mar 20 UTC and he continues with the false sweet bullshit.
05 Mar 20 UTC Congratulation to Octavious for the topboard!
And for the draw to the others!
I was sure France (Belgian Bulldog) will win this, he played also great, but Tugster could carry through what he decided. It was very exciting even after I was defeated. I was afraid from a solo here, and I'm happy neither Belgian and Octavious couldn't reach it. :)
@Belgian Bulldog: I would happily read your EoG analysis, while I know I made mistakes and it will be sad to see them again. :)
Thanks the game I've enjoyed it a lot!
05 Mar 20 UTC My biggest mistake was not attacking Austria in 01 like I had originally intended.

Manged to salvage it by getting myself nested into a crucial position and surviving a draw (with the same unit count as the Austrians too!)
05 Mar 20 UTC Tournament Director: (goldfinger0303): Well Austria if it makes you feel any better, you won't have to play him again :p

I was watching this one with great interest, as I believe it's the "toughest" match in the tournament.
05 Mar 20 UTC It will, without doubt, go down as one of Albania's finest victories.
