13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: Look, I offered a draw if you didn't want me to try and solo, and you said you wanted to keep going. So I'm going to keep trying.
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: We keep seeming to remember different conversations.
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: *I exist*
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: *right?*
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: I feel it's pretty clear... "Honestly, if you or one of the other major powers are knowingly willing to help me solo I'll go for it, but I don't think I have a shot otherwise so if all of you tell me you are setting yourselves against it, I will take a draw. In which case I don't mind when and would draw now to save time if you guys want."
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: From spring in 06, when you asked what my end game plan was.
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: And then (me you me)

"Thu 07 AM Spring, 1906: So it's basically just if you liked working with me enough to let me score for the tournament ;)
Thu 08 AM Spring, 1906: Germany made the good point of eliminating England and Italy first. I think we have some work to do first.
Thu 08 AM Spring, 1906: That's also fine for me"
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: Seems like a pretty clear offer to draw
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: okay asshole Russia, go ahead and vote DRAW right now, and everyone can do the same, do it.
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: So if everyone thinks I can solo and people are willing to let me, then I appreciate the support and will try for it. And maybe I can get on the board for the tourney :)

If you want to try and cut out Italy first, and he doesn't want to just sit and take it, you can still probably eliminate him but I am not going to just enter all holds while you do so.
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: Kind of vacuous to ask for it right now when only two of you have your votes up. Not sure why you're calling me names, but whatever makes you happy France. It isn't like you've got Austria's vote either...
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: If the whole board votes draw I don't think I can fight you all so I'll also vote. If people are willing to keep going, I'll keep going.
13 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1906: I hear you England. I truly do.
16 Jan 20 UTC Spring, 1907: Russia look at the board everyone has a draw vote up.
16 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: He's payed off the German from the minute he showed up. Never in my life seen a German, from the very first minute, favor Russian interests over German. Every single move has put Russia before Germany, it's irrational. The German player ought to go hide under a rock in shame.
16 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: That's right. I broke anonymity, had old Germany taken care of so I could get my man new Germany in place, and have been paying him off. We're actually filming a new add. Winning the first round of the masters? Priceless.
16 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: ah, you admit it then?
17 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: Might as well ready, England.
18 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: FUCK YOU, he can ready whenever he wants to, you don't own his ready button, go fuck yourself.
18 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: England, make him WAIT as long as possible.
18 Jan 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: Hahaha ok
21 Jan 20 UTC Thanks for playing England! Good luck in the rest of your series.
21 Jan 20 UTC Tournament Director: (goldfinger0303): Hi everyone. There's a need for a sub this game. Thank you for your patience.
21 Jan 20 UTC Wasn't going to make it with Germany swapping out.
21 Jan 20 UTC Oh well
21 Jan 20 UTC Well-drawn, I guess?
21 Jan 20 UTC It's a shame I think would have had it in one more year, since I could get 5 just from Germany letting me take his so only one more the year after.
21 Jan 20 UTC so Germany quits in shame? About time.
21 Jan 20 UTC How do you get banned by request?
21 Jan 20 UTC well, Germany should self ban himself for playing as Russia's slave the ENTIRE game. Just for the record, I was nice and calm and rational with him for many years, I didn't go ballistic on him until much later, so don't blame it on me. He was in Russia's pocket from the very first moment he showed up and he constantly made decisions that favored Russian interest over German ones, mine you that I am not saying he favored Russia over France, I am saying he favored Russia over GERMANY. Just totally bizarre. The guy should go hide under a rock forever.
21 Jan 20 UTC And Russia you're a whim for voting draw, should have kept playing, coward.
21 Jan 20 UTC Whatever, France. You catch more flies with honey, and don't need to be so adversarial.
21 Jan 20 UTC Italy, I think it's if you need to stop playing but can't stop on your own or something like that? I'm confused why you would bother. Or maybe to reset an account but that also seems unlikely.
21 Jan 20 UTC FUCK YOU Russia.
21 Jan 20 UTC you're a coward and a whim to vote draw with 12 SC. Grow a spine.
21 Jan 20 UTC Here's an interesting fun fact, Russia has NEVER won a game of standard regular classic diplomacy other than against Bots. How did you even get into the "Masters"? is having a slave in your pocket the only way you do well?
21 Jan 20 UTC please replace the word slave with pawn, my apologies to all for that choice of word.
21 Jan 20 UTC Yap yap yap.
21 Jan 20 UTC At least I know what a whim is
21 Jan 20 UTC Just for my own curiosity, was there something you offered to Germany that compelled them to operate against their own best wishes? I know I certainly left myself out of position to prevent a wholesale stab but I was able to turn it around pretty quickly. Germany, not so much so.
21 Jan 20 UTC Honestly I think it was mostly him wanting to spite France
21 Jan 20 UTC I had a similar conversation with him at about the same time I did with you about wanting to solo if I could get the help but otherwise drawing to save time for focusing on the other rounds. It ended up boiling down to france being distasteful and so Germany didn't want to work with him and attack me, and that we'd been getting along so he'd keep working with me.

I think the tournament setting helped me here since it meant the solo was worth more than a tie and so one of us getting a solo was better than a 3wd with you.
21 Jan 20 UTC the spiting France argument is valid for later, but not at first, he starting irrationality helping Russia from the very first moment he showed up.
22 Jan 20 UTC I need to go revisit the scoring for the tournament.
22 Jan 20 UTC I'm pretty sure: Only way to score points is to solo. If at the end of the tournament there is a tie, then tiebreaker is (how many) board lead positions you have in games that ended in a draw. In the case of a draw where you share board lead, you get a share of that boards tiebrraking score based on how many people share board lead.

So for example, from this board we all score 0 points, and if I were to tie in the tournament with another player (lol, maybe at 0 points each) then I'd get 1 tie-breaker point from this round. If you had also had 12 centers, then instead we would each have 0.5 tie-breaker points.
22 Jan 20 UTC So basically, if it gets to the end game and you've been working well with another player to where you have a good relationship, whoever has a better chance at scoring well in the tournament (or whoever can convince the other...) should solo so that at least one of you gets a point. Or at least, that's how I see it. Since he had no skin in the tournament b/c he was a sub, Germany was kind enough to agree...
22 Jan 20 UTC Hence 'more flies with honey' which was actually Germany's line when saying that he was willing to work with me to solo since France had annoyed him so much.
22 Jan 20 UTC But I clearly have a different perspective on what counts as a positive outcome than France does, so I have no doubt he would vehemently disagree with that perspective of payoffs. Probably part of why I am in draws more often than he is.
22 Jan 20 UTC Hey all. While good players okay the board, better players play the people as well. I inherited an impossible position from my predessessor. When I was reaching out for time and understanding, Russia was helpful, and England was vague, and France was patronizing and threatening. So I leaned towards Russia. There was no solo in mind, yet. I tried to manage the NW, but got bogged down, and Russia continued to be helpful, while France was clearly pushy and angry. I don't say that angry is an ineffective way to play. But it pushed me away. Conversation is half this game, or I might as well play gunboat.

In the end, rl is calling me from the site for awhile. But I was rethinking my decision, fwiw. While I was favoring Russian goals, and was opposed to France, it was also punishing the rest of the board.

Anyway, good luck to all of you.
22 Jan 20 UTC Good players PLAY... Not okay... Smh
