22 Nov 19 UTC Mine also happens to be in...
22 Nov 19 UTC As he's mine
22 Nov 19 UTC Oops
As be's mine
22 Nov 19 UTC So who hasn't drawn?
22 Nov 19 UTC Neither England nor Germany has confirmed that their draw vote is in, based on the press I'm seeeing. But, with HDV, who knows.
22 Nov 19 UTC I thought we were waiting until Germany's elimination
22 Nov 19 UTC I'll be honest and say it's me
22 Nov 19 UTC That was the original plan. I sympathy-bailed
22 Nov 19 UTC Germany, I feel your pain.
22 Nov 19 UTC We left Germany alive, though, too, right? That yellow Syria place way down there on the right.
22 Nov 19 UTC The Ottomen will rise again.
22 Nov 19 UTC I voted draw
22 Nov 19 UTC It's not drawed
22 Nov 19 UTC Ironically it’s probably Germany, who wasn’t anticipating us giving him the chance
22 Nov 19 UTC Aye... It's not likely that any of us lied. That's kinda laughter-induci g.
22 Nov 19 UTC ^^^
22 Nov 19 UTC My draw vote isn't in.
23 Nov 19 UTC Oooh it was me
23 Nov 19 UTC Go potty and terrible lies!
23 Nov 19 UTC *pity. Autocorrect sucks.
23 Nov 19 UTC Diplomacy 101
23 Nov 19 UTC Well I guessed nobody. Lol
23 Nov 19 UTC Gross, now y'all get to see how prickly and aggressive I am in press. I have a reputation to keep...
23 Nov 19 UTC I've got too many games going... Public Press is an interesting twist, but not my favorite.
23 Nov 19 UTC Ha! Good game everyone. I had a good time, and I hope you all did, too. :)
23 Nov 19 UTC Happy to top the board at least.
23 Nov 19 UTC I love public press. The timing was just terrible for basically everyone still in the game lol.
23 Nov 19 UTC Really, Carl? Had ya all pegged by A01. The only two I debated until A01 were Russia/Germany.
23 Nov 19 UTC Part of it was not actually knowing who was in the game. I never looked at the guest list. I knew you were here obviously, since you invited me, and I guessed dargo because he has a distinctive writing style. Rest of y'all I got nothin on though
23 Nov 19 UTC We can try again some other time if you all would like.
23 Nov 19 UTC (I guessed you were Italy fwiw)
23 Nov 19 UTC I can't believe we gave NEFS 23 points apiece when this beggar has triple my count if not more. I want a refund
23 Nov 19 UTC Nah... If you have ever played a press game with Yigg, you'd have known right away.
23 Nov 19 UTC I think I've played maybe 2-3 press games on this site ever lol. I don't know anyone's writing style apart from the forum. And if it's not all that distinct or I just don't remember it, I'm clueless.

Am I really the only one that didn't know who was who?
23 Nov 19 UTC Well, I had Matticus pegged early. And some press clues outed my friend Grumbledook to me. I guessed Darg right, too, and I was relatively sure about Chaqa. But I've not had a ton of experience with Carl and NEFS, so that was a mystery.

Though to tell the truth, I try not to worry too much about the who-is-who anon meta.
23 Nov 19 UTC Dude, Matticus, you were pretty solid here. You managed to top the board as well as not...over talk, I suppose I would call that. An air of mystery you might say. You're giving me all sorts of new ideas.
23 Nov 19 UTC I tried to stab when I knew France and Russia were in situations where it would be tough to hit me. I have a somewhat *upfront* press style that seems to work well for me. I try to keep it brief.
23 Nov 19 UTC But, I did try to keep it vague on purpose in this game. Not sure it would work as well of a central Power.
23 Nov 19 UTC *as a central Power*
23 Nov 19 UTC See, my problem is the opposite. I flat out *write* too damn much. There's this sweet spot between too much and not enough, and I gotta start looking at options that other direction. Trouble is, so much of my game depends on my wordsmithery. I struggle with how to cut that back.

This is a perfect example. I used sixty five words to instead say:

"I talk too much."
23 Nov 19 UTC It'd probably help me to plan my press more. You can see why I'm so big on gunboat lol. I spew paragraphs without even trying.
23 Nov 19 UTC But dude, I LOVED your Press, Austria! Seriously. Loved it.
23 Nov 19 UTC Glad to hear it, since you were the one I most wanted to keep onboard. But now that it’s over, what was the plan?
I think despite my posturing about the West being too chummy, I myself wavered too much on account of liking all my neighbors...
23 Nov 19 UTC My plan was to hit France and move to Picardy and Burgundy. What dissuaded me was your statement of moving to Tyrolia and Bohemia. Had it only been even one of the two I would have still attacked France. Sad days.
23 Nov 19 UTC GG all. My apologies for the press; I need to stop joining the long press games. I really just don't have the time to commit to it. Live press and gunboat is all I can do. WP to all.
23 Nov 19 UTC My plan was to not die! Ha! But seriously, I had hoped to get in on the monkey pile on Turkey early on. The WT made me check swing that plan. But then France made good on his promise to leave me alone, and that put me in a real bind. Tactically, I didn't think my chances of hitting France were very good. Which meant I either set up to defend, which I had some confidence in being able to do...or hit you (Austria). The trouble is, had I done that, I'd have encouraged the E/F to run wild. And I doubt I would have been able to convince Russia to hit you on the other side to try for quick and/or offsetting gains from the impending English invasion.

Truly, I was stuck for what to do next.
23 Nov 19 UTC Holy crap! The game is over!

GG, everyone.
23 Nov 19 UTC Since I haven’t really played with any of you I had no one pegged. The exception was Yigg, who I guessed by the first sentence of his first post!

Thanks for letting this rusty and average player play with this circle of esteemed players. I’m honored that you had me.
23 Nov 19 UTC Grumble grumble grumble
23 Nov 19 UTC This was a fun game.
I only had chaqa/turkey figured out, because he sorta made it kinda obvious. I don't usually put much effort in attempting to decode anonymous.

It all centered, to me, on Italy's play. As long as he and I were at peace, other pieces shifted (see what I did there?)

Which is interesting to me, because I find that to be the case in many press games.

French and English cooperation cleaned up in the NW, and the fall of Turkey solidified the SE... (sorry chaqa)

I wonder what would/could have happened next? If Italy remained 'true' we would have had a bog down through the austro/germanic border, until England took advantage of the Russian lack of northern defenses... but that would have stopped soon.

So... I dunno.

But the press was excellent. Thanks all!
