08 Sep 19 UTC | Spring, 1: Hf! |
10 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: Somebody here.. Please explain that why evrytime does Persia get squeezed between Egypt and Greece? I've played Persia multiple times and 95% of times got squeezed out between my two neighbors. Any explanations?? |
10 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: I've had two draws, one survived and two losses as Persia. In 15 other games Persia not been part of the result 6 times, once as an outright winner. |
10 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: I didn't put that clearly. In 20 completed games I have seen 1 Persian outright victory and 7 other occasions when they have been part of a draw. |
10 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: I think Roma and Carthage often start war, so no one can help Persia’s squeezed. Anyway,Persia’s frontline is too long... |
10 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: I agree to Rome. The frontline is quite stretched. Greece: So in a game of 5 countries. If one country doesn't even make it successfully to 4 wins (20% probability) and just has 6 draws out of 20, I think they don't really give you confidence playing as Persia! |
10 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: 4 wins is what you would expect if drawn was not a result; looking at those 20 games only 9 games were outright victories, which means Persia won 11% of the time. That is below the expected 20% but it is a small data set. Throw in the fact that Persia was a draw participant in 7 of the other 11 games and you get a positive result in 35% of games; is that so bad? Obviously an analysis of a larger dataset would be more meaningful. |
10 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: I’ve played his variation a lot. I’ve been able to solo with each power except Greece. Greece is the hardest country on this map. Time and Persia are the easiest. IMO. |
10 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: Wow... Greece really has some experience with both the game as well as data!!! Are you a data analyst or MBA data science something like that by profession?? I'm just curious. Carthage: Well, I guess all of us have our own experiences with different games. It obviously is also on how good a diplomat each one is!! |
11 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: Some time ago I was curious about whether I was doing better playing different countries, so I started keeping track of results in a simple Excel spreadsheet. It takes a couple of minutes per game to maintain. I was a board wargamer, dice & all, and did a bit of stats as part of my degree so I understand basic probability. |
11 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: GameMaster: ダヴィン was banned: Multi/meta/no reply. The time until the next phase has been extended by one phase length to give an opportunity to replace the player. Remember to finalize your orders if you don't want to wait, so the game isn't held up unnecessarily! |
11 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 2: Interesting info there Greece. That actually sounds like a good idea. Maybe webdiplomacy can hire you as an analyst ;) |
15 Sep 19 UTC | Spring, 4: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders. |
16 Sep 19 UTC | Autumn, 4: Moderator: (Aurelin): Paused by player request. Email [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns! |
