03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: Well, being the time in Ireland is after midnight, I don't think we're going to see Russia make any more actions tonight. See you all tomorrow! :)
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: Does anyone know of a diplomacy where the rules aren't "weird"?
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: and Russia's the big winner so far :P
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: not that I know of...
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: So what is it that you guys dont like? different rules?
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: I think Chris is the best person to explain this :P
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: Retreating into supply depots is bunk, players who should be at a disadvantage ie. Retreat, are given an opportunity to grab supply depots? WTF is that
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: i concur
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: but think we should still play this out
03 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1902: Agreed. Especially on the seas where there's usually a ton of places to retreat to.
03 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: I'll play it out just so as not to screw everyone up, but I don't think I'll ever play this on line again.
03 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: I'll play it out just so as not to screw everyone up, but I don't think I'll ever play this on line again.
03 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: It's too bad that not everyone likes this, but I had a feeling it would happen.
03 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: I'm starting to think that too Jason
03 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: Oh well =/
03 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: Yeah I looked around, I dont think you can find an online version that follows the rules used for HSA games, cause these all strictly follow the Avalon Hill rules.
04 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: Last time I read the Avalon hill rules, we followed them. Although this online dip could be some wackos interpretation of them.
04 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: yeah, we;ve always used the wording right out of the book
04 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1903: I just read the rules, it says that you cannot retreat to: An occupied province (One that has a fleet/army in it) the province that attacked just attacked the retreating force, or a province in which there was a standoff (Where a province is attacked by more then one army/fleet, but neither capture it because they don't have support)

It never says that you can't move into a vacant supply center. =/ (These are from the 2000 rulebook, maybe there's newer rules)
04 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1903: Sorry I took so long guys.
I really enjoy playing this with you guys online. Is there a way to make custom rules for future games?
04 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1903: I'll look into it.
05 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1903: Doing 4th year seminar papers is a valid reason for delays.
05 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1903: Thanks :D *hurrah!*
I handed it in this morning :D

06 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1904: Where is Kyle?
06 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1904: God only knows...
Probably having a cuddle night with Jen :D :D
(I approve of that :D - Super cute)
07 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1904: Too bad nobody really took a shine to online diplo, but at least i can still look forward to the HSA game in a few weeks. :D
07 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1904: I think it takes some getting used to. In addition to Chris' comment about retreats, I think having to hold a depot physically until the build phase slows the game down.
08 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1904: Based on the rules that I've read, the way retreats work on here are correct, and since I've been playing online for a long time I've gotten used to it. Although I will agree with you 100% with having to hold depots, its very annoying.

08 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1904: Also, getting tag teamed by Neil and Barry sucks, but that's not web diplomacy's fault
08 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1904: :P Welcome to Diplomacy, Kyle :P
09 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1905: Where's Laura? =/
09 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1905: Papering.
10 Mar 10 UTC Spring, 1905: Btw - now that we have SOME idea of how this game works, anyone want to try again?
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: I'm always up for Diplomacy.
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: Russia is doing very well for 1905.
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: I'd be up for it too
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: I'd like to try the Ancient Med one
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: I like it, I'm in another game using and and I'd be up for that one but it's only for 5 so depends on how many of us are itnerested
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: We could also try getting more people, and try for a bigger map, maybe a North American one.
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: I too would be interested now that I am getting the hang of the rules.
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: That's 4. :D
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: Chris probably disagrees :P
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: Chris probably disagrees :P
10 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: Sucks that Russia and Austria are gone. :(
11 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: so France is now to be referred to as Maghreb
11 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: XD. Thank you for that, Kyle :P
12 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1905: Just finished my first World Diplo game, was pretty fun, but pretty chaotic.
14 Mar 10 UTC Autumn, 1906: Look like It's now just the three of us. =/
