10 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 2003: Wrong. Plenty of people have complained of stopping wars earlier than they wanted. I personally remember people criticizing Bush Sr for not entering Iraq and removing Hussein in the first Gulf War. More recently lots of people argued and continue to argue over withdrawing forces from Iraq and Afghanistan. If the Allies had stopped WWII early, what would that even mean? Presumably Putin thinks stopping the Ukrainian "civil" war would be a bad idea (quotes around civil not because of irony but because it is in effect a Russian proxy war). I could go on ad infinitum with examples of wars that people presumably thought/think would be bad to end early since they kept/keep fighting them.
