18 Mar 18 UTC gg. wanted to give it a try but you all reacted too well coordinated. Pleasure playing with you all.
18 Mar 18 UTC gg
18 Mar 18 UTC Well played, everyone!
18 Mar 18 UTC Good game guys
18 Mar 18 UTC Sorry for the late draw vote, I just wanted France and Turkey out.
18 Mar 18 UTC ;-;
18 Mar 18 UTC I think I could have destroyed enough English fleets in Spain to make it worth while, but it would have taken too long. Very well played by you in the north; Im just glad I double lunged Austria. WTF with an 02 fleet build....
18 Mar 18 UTC Yeah we stalemated in the East, and we would have given you a nice fight in Spain.
18 Mar 18 UTC I figured that was the case Germany. Because of the holdout and my size, I wanted to try for a turn or two to see what happened in the north, but decided ultimately it wasnt worth it.
18 Mar 18 UTC England I was hoping you wouldn't take that Norway move the wrong way, oh well. Just trying to bounce France.
18 Mar 18 UTC Yea, but trading mar and Spain back and forth (as would probably have happened results in English fleets being destroyed.
18 Mar 18 UTC Right
18 Mar 18 UTC Took me a while to catch on Germany, but I eventually did, lol.

Quality defense, France.

18 Mar 18 UTC That was a strong alliance we had there, especially for gunboat. And always a pleasure to play with you, teacher2.
18 Mar 18 UTC Thank you, England. I wasn't expecting you to support Germany into Norway at the end there.
18 Mar 18 UTC Yeah that was crucial.
18 Mar 18 UTC Yeah, that was the turn after I finally realized that Italy had finished off Turkey and was now the main threat. Had a bit of tunnel vision until then.
18 Mar 18 UTC yea, tbh I was hoping that would go unnoticed and youd fear Germany like you showed signs of doing. I knew I risked that when I took down my draw vote, so I waited to be the last that turn.

My two cents: as Italy, I want a strong Austria. I always try to ally Austria in the early game. as I signaled by moving to Piedmont. (Plus that encourages people to head to France and can get me early builds from Mar). I was going that path this game, but Austria built a fleet in 02. There is nowhere that fleet can go but against me.

His move away from my border almost lulled me into sending Tyr Sea to GoL in Autumn 02. But I decided to play it safe, since Italy must ALWAYS hold Ionian. I am glad I did.

I dont know how Austria didnt react to a supported move to Tyrolia. I thought it was a coinflip between double bounces and capturing Vienna while he supported himself to Trieste. Instead he left himself wide open. From there, it was simply a watching game - making sure no one power in the north got too powerful to the point where Id have to intervene. Germany concerned me a couple times, because I thought Eng left himself too open.

But had Germany stabbed, he probably figured that a stalemate could be formed, only with more players. I am not sure about this logic, since I have seen some boneheads play. But France was not a bonehead as shown through his moves, so Germany probably made the right call.

It was well played by everyone. I wish Austria had not built a fleet, as I think the game would have developed much differently from my end.
18 Mar 18 UTC Yeah I considered a stab after the Russia elim, but I figured it would be telegraphed from a long ways away, and England would have time to prepare. I ran a few different scenarios out and always got to 17 centers.
18 Mar 18 UTC My biggest regret is not moving Ven to Pie in Spring 08. I wonder if I could have soloed under those conditions. Probably not, but closer...
18 Mar 18 UTC I wish I hadn't tried to protect Marseilles in Fall 1901. I wasn't sure whether you'd go for it but didn't want to risk it.
18 Mar 18 UTC Yea. Italy very rarely goes for it, assuming some form of defense if you are in Spa/Bur, and simply tries to prevent a southern fleet build. I flipped a coin and decided youd cover or bounce.
