31 Aug 16 UTC | Autumn, 1995: Hello everyone, I just picked up the game from the old player. Given my, ah, poor state, I am of course willing to negotiate any deal with any player that will permit me to survive even slightly longer. I look forward to being eaten alive by / serving as a puppet to you. Sincerely, UK |
05 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1996: I have to say having so many major CDs in this game kind of makes it pointless. It's like Nome of the major powers are so because they actually beat someone who was fighting back. Lame. Too bad we don't know who left |
05 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1996: Italy missed 2 moves turkey and England missed 1 move and no one else is vacant for a 15pt pot, that is fantastic |
05 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1996: And Egypt missed two. :D You point about the pot for a ten player game is we'll taken though. I should expect too much. At least this time the CDs have benefitted me also |
05 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1996: But that one move for England was a real doozy. That's why I have three SCs (soon to be two) instead of six. |
08 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1997: ... thanks France |
11 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1997: The Grand and Mighty Empire of Liverpool believes that the time for war is over. While it is clear that, should we choose, we could most easily steamroll your weak and divided forces with our mighty army, we do not wish to cause any unnecessary harm. We thank you for your cooperation and expect your thanks and gratitude for allowing you live. - His Imperial Majesty, Emperor of Liverpool and its Environs, King of Wales, Duke of Cornwall. |
11 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1997: Don't forget Earl of Devon! I think you still own that too! |
12 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1998: Ayayay. Another CD this time by a major power in the middle of the board. Sheesh |
12 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1998: I am taking over for Germany. Maybe something will happen good for me, maybe not. Let's have a good game. |
12 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1998: Well, I'd much rather have taken over your position than mine. |
13 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1998: Well I've arrived in the promised land so I think I will just stay there awhile, unless the Egyptians need to build more pyramids! |
15 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1999: Well, I'm screwed. |
13 Oct 16 UTC | Well, friends, that was good fun. I was starting to get my hopes up Russia would miss the turn and I could rampage through the backcountry. Definitely a great game all the way around. (Glad Ukraine made it in, too!) |
13 Oct 16 UTC | My hat tip goes to Spain in this one. He played amazingly well with an over-powered and cantankerous neighbor throughout. He resisted against the odds and then changed sides to prevent the Russian solo when it was right. Everyone played well. Russia was totally on point going for the solo given the stance Spain and I had taken. Turkey not dismantling Spain was endlessly frustrating to me, of course, but it was totally the right thing to do. And who could criticize the guy who got into the draw with one unit. :-) Great game all. I really enjoyed it. |
13 Oct 16 UTC | Hey! I was the Egypt who took over a CD after the first year! I'm not one of those Turkish scoundrels! :) |
13 Oct 16 UTC | Whups. It does take some of the glory off of your accomplishment that you were apparently playing against an opponent who can't even identify what country you are. :-) |
14 Oct 16 UTC | Challenging frustrating and fun game everyone. Enjoyed the game even though it was like being stuck in the mud and spinning wheels. Respectful battle France, i just couldn't afford war with eygpt and left me little options. Thanks for trusting me when the allegiance was necessary. I don't think that happens often after a long battle. Hat tip to Eygpt for remaining loyal when i could easily been wiped . Nice battle with Russia too. Had all these players began this game it may have been epic . Good game all. |
14 Oct 16 UTC | Yep. I agree that it rarely enough happens that trust kicks in at the right time after a long battle. That's why Russia's decision to race for the solo was such a good one. We're just lucky to have switched gears so seamlessly. |
14 Oct 16 UTC | Well, not lucky. I'd say that is good play. Good players have to be able to turn on a dime like that |
