28 Sep 15 UTC Agreed.

I'm curious now, is there anything that any of you were hiding earlier that you can share since the game is earlier? It's always interesting to hear the various behind the scenes plots that go on in this game.
28 Sep 15 UTC Russia - yes, I know the game you referred to. I won as Italy, but it was a bogus game due to some very poor play, NMRs and CDs. I'd rather play a game like this and get eliminated than one like that. This was a lot more fun and instructive.
28 Sep 15 UTC I came extremely close to backstabbing you last year. France was on board too, and our line was amazing. We could have taken you out, but I wasn't sure if France would then go for solo and if we didn't equally consume you there'd be problems with a Winner-takes-all game.
28 Sep 15 UTC Also I felt bad for betraying Austria, but we really weren't making any progress.
28 Sep 15 UTC I agree Turkey, good games where you lose are much more enjoyable than lousy curb stomps.

Italy: I was kinda surprised you didn't tbh. Your line was really great. And yeah, I purposely made sure that your alliance couldn't go anywhere so that you were forced to stab Austria. I was far too worried about the center alliance that Turkey warned me about to just take Turkey down with you without getting Austria first.
28 Sep 15 UTC Also: Does anybody mind if I post this game to the Diplomacy subreddit on reddit? They might be interested in seeing a featured game.
28 Sep 15 UTC I might be embarrassed to have other people see probably the worst Diplomacy game I have ever played, but power to you.
28 Sep 15 UTC Go for it, I'm an avid redditor but never knew there was a sub about it.
28 Sep 15 UTC I will say I liked Italy's idea of the stab. I was all for it. We had Kiel and once in Kiel, Denmark and Berlin would have fallen. Simultaneously Vienna would have gone and Russia would have been removing pieces from the board.
The issue would have been the wildcard Turkey: would he side with the Russian as he still had 3 units and it required an alliance to oust him.
Still, would have been a bit of fun.
28 Sep 15 UTC I think I have said all I need to say about my immediate neighbours. Shockingly disasterous decisions all round. Mun->Boh->Tyr->a certain death in Pie being one of the more interesting journeys taken in this game.
28 Sep 15 UTC My turn: In spring of 1905 I was putting serious consideration into supporting Austria into Trieste and Turkey into Serbia in an attempt to cripple Italy, and then have Turkey finish off Austria and act as my junior partner. I ended up deeming it too risky, but I was quite close to doing it.
28 Sep 15 UTC No problem by me, though I wouldn't point to this as one of my best games.
28 Sep 15 UTC Could we do another game? Password protected, and anonymous this time, though.
28 Sep 15 UTC Would anyone be up for that?
28 Sep 15 UTC What the German wouldn't have known perhaps were the following:
a) Turkey's excellent intervention, calling to arms the 4 'edge' players, and
b) my pre-emptive offer for a bounce in Western Med in Spring 1903 which Italy of course declined and effectively sealed Germany's fate.
28 Sep 15 UTC I am sure you are chomping at the bit Germany to get some points back. I am open to an anonymous game if others are. I enjoyed this game tremendously.
But we would need to all agree to hold anonymity throughout the game and I think that is impossible to do.
28 Sep 15 UTC I would change my press style to preserve anonymity. I would suggest everyone else does the same, though I don't particularly care.
28 Sep 15 UTC it doesn't matter to me, but I'd be down for another game. Hopefully I won't get stuck with Italy lol
28 Sep 15 UTC Bet size preference?
28 Sep 15 UTC I would go for another game, though I don't care about anonymity one way or the other.
28 Sep 15 UTC France seemed to have metaproblems with me, so we'll have to make it anon.
28 Sep 15 UTC I'd be down for another game. And yeah, I think it'd have to be anonymous, otherwise everyone will be clamoring to be my ally after my stellar performance this game. *buffs nails*
28 Sep 15 UTC I'd vote for a high-ish pot, I enjoy big stake games. And if anyone here isn't going to play again, we can just advertise on the forum or on reddit for extra players.
29 Sep 15 UTC 150 again?
29 Sep 15 UTC I am game for another 150 game anon
29 Sep 15 UTC Who'll make it?
29 Sep 15 UTC I'll join
29 Sep 15 UTC but I bet this will end in a solo, since it didn't end in one last game
29 Sep 15 UTC I can start it if you all want. I'm kinda thinking a slightly bigger pot this time. Maybe 199 points, since that's the highest we can go?
29 Sep 15 UTC I'm in.
29 Sep 15 UTC Yes I am in.
29 Sep 15 UTC It appears we just need a replacement for England. I'd be happy to make some suggestions. Should we just send out a few invites to players we respect and take it from there?

Germany - are you creating the game?
29 Sep 15 UTC We could invite Macula. He's in the top 2% of all players on the site.
29 Sep 15 UTC I just made a game called "Higher level play". Password is 'nonmrsplease'

29 Sep 15 UTC Invited Zmaj, played tons of games with him.
29 Sep 15 UTC Okay. I'll wait a bit before inviting anyone else to make sure that anyone from this game that wanted to join gets the chance, but if it doesn't fill up then I can try putting up advertisements/ send invites.
29 Sep 15 UTC Also invited jbalcorn and stefanodangello. I played in the Leagues with them and they were terrific. Stefano doesn't have enough points at the moment, but probably will shortly.
29 Sep 15 UTC Well gee, now I'm a bit intimidated. I might be the least experienced of this whole group!
29 Sep 15 UTC No worries, Russia. You have the chops, believe me.
30 Sep 15 UTC Italy, Austria, Germany? Going to join?
30 Sep 15 UTC Yeah
30 Sep 15 UTC Is stefan playing? If so, I would be open.
30 Sep 15 UTC I have not yet heard.
01 Oct 15 UTC So Austria, are you up for joining? We are running out of time on this one.
01 Oct 15 UTC Where is the game id?
01 Oct 15 UTC gameID=167989
But I assumed you found it.
So we just need one more player.
01 Oct 15 UTC jbalcorn let me know that he can't commit to a game at the moment. I have not heard from stefanodangello. I can send a few more invitations out if that's okay with everyone.
01 Oct 15 UTC Perfectly okay by me
