20 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: WTF is that?
20 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: Encrypted message. So that you know I wrote it NOW, but you can only read it once I give you the password.
20 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: If you really want to be sneaky, you can have two different messages there, with a different password for each, so based on the turn's outcome, I can give out either one. However, if the encrypted text is over 4 times larger than the original, you should suspect that.
20 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: you lost me
20 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: Since we're already spamming, I'll explain:
New game. I'm Austria, you're Italy. I do a Blue Water Lepanto opening, where I first move into ION, then you dislodge me, and I retreat into AEG/EAS. Normally, you'd be very pissed at me. But at the start of the game I send an encrypted message saying "I'm not attacking, I'm doing a BWL". Once I've retreated into EAS, I send you the password. You decrypt it and realize I wasn't attacking you at any point, so you are much less pissed now.
Encryption can be something very simple, like every second letter.. But it's also easy to use government-grade encryption that can't be broken without a password.

Now, on to more complex scenario: I make a double-message. If I give the password "ABC" you will get "I love you", and if I give the password "XYZ" you will get "I hate you". Then, I do whatever, and after two turns I give you whichever password suits me at the time. And you think I've loved you the entire time. Cool, no?
20 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: yes, and no...but yes as long as you love ME ;)
20 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: I thought you were trying to steal all my bitcoin!
21 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: so when does the password come?
21 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: $750 and it's yours.
21 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: does that cover the cost of your bit-coin losses?
21 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: The message was for a single player, but I couldn't rightly send someone a private message saying "I'm doing something shady against you". So.. you're not getting the password, unless that player gives it out.
21 Jan 15 UTC Spring, 1904: Well, why put it in global then? Why not just to the person in private?

On another note, and I know nothing about encrypting messages, how does one go about learning and or doing it?
23 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: Where's all my friends. ????
23 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: GG all
23 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: Good playing with you Turkey.

France, you're down one friend. 5 to go.
23 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: GG Turkey. Sorry all, I'm preoccupied this weekend, may not reply to the press promptly. I'll also drag this phase out till the end.
23 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: Gg turkey, I too a, quite busy through Saturday night. Please don't mind if I'm short or non responsive, family obligations. Sunday will be back to my normal self. Thx for understanding.
23 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1904: I am attending a Mithraic gathering tonight; I may or may not be back tomorrow, depending on how truthful the conspiracy is, or if I wind up being the sacrifice. Wish me luck! :D
30 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1905: Let's ready up please
30 Jan 15 UTC Autumn, 1905: Oof. Good call. Sorry!
02 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: There's a little bit of brown left in your eye; better clear it out.
02 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: Gg to England germany and Austria.
02 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: Thanks; not that it means anything, but I'll reveal some things from 1901, and maybe I can get the others to chime in once the game is done. Until then...points down the shitter! :) And yes, I'll still remain the cocky prick! ;)
02 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: And by the way, good game to all. There are some good press people in here and it's been somewhat enlightening!
02 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: Sure, I'd love a postmortem of this game. Thanks E/G/A, it was a pleasure.
02 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: Yep, good game all. Are the rest of you going to draw?
02 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: Eog for sure
03 Feb 15 UTC Autumn, 1906: That would be the plan, Draw.
03 Feb 15 UTC Good game friends. Sorry about the stab CK!
03 Feb 15 UTC Good game all. This was a lot of fun. Sorry germany, I wanted it to work out, but you would not attack Russia.
England, nothing personal, it just worked out this way. I was so close to choosing you, but we both wanted to be fleet nations and that would have drawn conflict.
03 Feb 15 UTC No Effin Way!!!! Seriously?
Ssorenn, according to Russia, the fix against Germany was set from 1901. True or no?
I tried to pull together a central triple with the goal of excising England and Turkey first, then France and Russia after. Obviously, didn't work out that way.

I can't believe you guys drew.
03 Feb 15 UTC Not true. I was begging you to attack Russia. When you wouldn't, I had to attack
03 Feb 15 UTC http://webdiplomacy.net/forum.php?threadID=1225572 for EoG/postmortem. Thanks all.
