24 Oct 14 UTC sorry guys, i mis-played that pretty badly in my repositioning. on the flip side, gratz seth for taking what will probably be the sole solo of this 7 game series. well played. gg all
24 Oct 14 UTC congrats on the solo seth, very well played
24 Oct 14 UTC Well done Seth, but man that was frustrating to watch in mid game as France just abandoned centers to England left and right. I swear there were a couple where he ran away on an Autumn turn where he could have just bounced and kept a unit even.
24 Oct 14 UTC For example Autumn 09 where he abandons Marseilles (his last home center!) to move to Piedmont when only Gascony could even attack Marseilles that turn.
24 Oct 14 UTC Then Spring 10 he abandons Spa for Gulf of Lyons and moves east from Piedmont instead of retaking Mar with those two units against the one British army. Just very odd play and to me the solo was basically inevitable at that point.
24 Oct 14 UTC Thanks everyone, This was a really good game, I thought y'all might have had me until yaleunc took Silesia. That was my ticket. I was a bit confused by how easily France conceded his homeland, I contributed it to him trying to make sure that he didn't get cut out of a draw by making me a solo threat quickly. And he was really mostly successful in that endeavor, it was obvious that I wasn't going to get Tunis as my 18th center. So I don't really know if there was really any bad play in this one.
In the turn you bring up yaleunc, he could have very well been expecting me to move that unit to Spain instead (since I wouldn't think that he would leave that center open) and hope that he would be able to build another unit there. That was the main reason I made that move, because I figured he would try to leave it open for a build.
24 Oct 14 UTC But I still see the point you are making Yaleunc, the moves he made were so unexpected I didn't really know how I should play the next turn, at one point I thought you were throwing the game to me kallen ;)
24 Oct 14 UTC If you took Spain I don't see how he would be able to build a unit in Mar anyway since he would have had to disband 1 or 2 units that turn due to losing multiple centers to you without gains elsewhere.
24 Oct 14 UTC The whole endgame was just really frustrating. I felt very helpless as Turkey watching France run away from you and then not move up to the stalemate line the last few years. Spring 11 another head scratcher for me, he was in Tyr and Vie and instead of either taking Boh from Vie or hitting Mun from Tyr (which would have succeeded as you moved out of Mun that turn) he pulled back from Tyr to Ven. Oh well.
24 Oct 14 UTC Good game.
