Wow! I thought Egypt had the solo. Well played |

Phew! One of my few successful results in gunboat, and it felt like a very near thing. As usual, I got attacked from all sides from the start. Perhaps Spain would have attacked me anyway if I hadn't moved to Navarra, but he certainly did once I did. At least it slowed him down and distracted him from Britain, which proved crucial in the end. Italy was dividing his attention fortunately so I didn't have to face his full force, and then he pulled off to focus against Egypt unsuccessfully. So it was Germany who was my most difficult foe early on. Somehow I managed to trade Belgium for entry into southern Germany, and once Italy stopped fighting me, that left me with the advantage, especially since so many of Germany's units were fleets. |

So when the tide turned, I decided to work alongside Britain against our mutual foes Germany and Spain. I was wavering between trying to prop up Italy or claim his centers, but ultimately, it is easier to order my units than to hope someone else will order as you wish. The same issue came up with Russia later. I went ahead and broke through Austria because it is such a bottleneck, but I ultimately refrained from taking Czech. Britain was taking the opposite approach in the far north so I was a little nervous that Russia would collapse faster than Britain could secure the front. I knew I held a tenuous grasp on Rome and Venice, especially once I got kicked out of Tyrrhenian Sea for the second time. |

I wasn't sure we would get the second opportunity for the draw after Russia passed up a chance to do so over an entire move cycle. Again, phew! Thanks all for the game! |
