06 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: question: have we lost austria?
06 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: does seem to put the kibosh on having a sporting game if one of the players has abandoned his post. Is there precedent for this sort of thing?
06 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: we may have lots austria whihc would be bad
06 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: Well, they go into CD if they miss 2 consecutive order phases, so they get removed from the equation after that point.
06 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: yes, but doesnt that essentially place the neighboring nations at an unfair advantage? its like adding a bunch of neutral territory to the map right?
06 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: Agreed, but if it's only one power, it's not a biggie (Germany and Italy are CD in a 5 or 6 player game). If you get 2-3 players CD, however, and the game goes downhill. That's why they built in an option for people to take over CD players when that happens.

Bear in mind, it's not exactly the same as adding neutral territories, as they must still be taken with support (and can be supported by your opponents).
07 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: GameMaster: ruffmike has taken over Austria.
07 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: hi?
07 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: hello, and welcome austria!
07 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: i'm new what do we do?
07 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: i move but nothing happens? does it take long time to move?
07 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: oof, well, your in rough shape austria. someone abandoned their post, and austria has subsequently been swallowed up for the most part by your neighbors. My suggestion? make friends real quick.
18 Jul 09 UTC Spring, 1909: how can I say this without sounding too arrogant...is anyone else kind of bored with the prospect of playing this out? Its just that with france going CD on us, and me having twice as many SCs as anyone on the board, how can this end any other way than me slowly swallowing up the rest of the continent, at which point I have to say "whats the point"? Im not even really engaging in any diplomacy anymore, which defeats the purpose of the game for me. Is it always like this at a certain point when one player has a distinct advantage?
18 Jul 09 UTC Spring, 1909: yeah it hink you won. if you get 18 it's all over in the fall
