30 Jun 09 UTC Spring, 1901: So just for anyone who doesn't know, a no press game means there's no correspondence between the players.
30 Jun 09 UTC Spring, 1901: you mean like gunboat?
30 Jun 09 UTC Spring, 1901: fuck this im out
30 Jun 09 UTC Spring, 1901: that ruins the game. ah whatever i guess ill stay
30 Jun 09 UTC Spring, 1901: stupid idiots no press
30 Jun 09 UTC Spring, 1901: sort of hypocritical
30 Jun 09 UTC Spring, 1901: this ain't gonna work out. How do you want to control it?
30 Jun 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: It's an honour system, naturally.
30 Jun 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: I suppose if you don't want to play a Gunboat, i.e. No Press, variant then you probably shouldn't sign up for a game that has NO PRESS in big letters in the title :)
30 Jun 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: I don't mind playing Gunboat in case you are talking to me. However I have never played Gunboat on here, only in RL. Thats why I had doubts that this can work out. And honestly if it is a Gunboat game, one should mention Gunboat in the game description, instead of No Press
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: Not aimed at anyone in particular. No Press is the proper name for a no communication game, sorry about that. Next time I'll call it "(GUNBOAT/NO PRESS)" though. Point taken. BTW, I am currently playing about 5 games on here that are No Press, so it's not uncommon.
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: haha ok I see... I havent read "no press" at all yet. All I can tell is that all the "no press" games are hosted by you. So maybe it is a common term since you have hosted a bunch of these Gunboat like games, making it a commong term ;)
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: oh and don't get me wrong here, I knew it was a gunboat, some others probably didn't :)
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: so no press or what
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: cause if not iv'e got to get some negotiations going
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: It is a common term in Diplomacy. There are variants of Press Rules too such as White Press and Grey Press. I agree that No Press is often known as Gunboat though. I started these games because I'm very busy at work so I can't enter into long negotiations at the moment especially due to problems with time zones. It's currently 01:06 where I live - I'm about to go to bed :).
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: where in europe do you live
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: i'm guessing europe cuase of the time change
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: UK, 20 miles West of London (near Reading).
01 Jul 09 UTC Autumn, 1901: interesting if you think of it this site is very diverse for instance i'm south of LA
