20 Feb 13 UTC Spring, 2000: [Ghana]:Good morning. Since this is many peoples first time playing Diplomacy, or their first time playing on this site, please feel free to ask questions in the global chat.

Also just an FYI you do have separate private mailboxes with the other countries by clicking on the name of the country above. This allows you to communicate just with that individual country.
20 Feb 13 UTC Spring, 2000: [Ghana]:A few pointers for everyone based on questions that i have received

1) If you fleet doesnt seem to be able to go somewhere, take a look at the larger map. Sometimes the smaller map doesnt do a good job at showing where bodies of water are. Also you cant cross coasts. If you have bodies of water on both side of you giving you for example a North coast and a South coast, you cant cross the land to go from one to the other just because your fleet is parked in that country, you have to go around and through what ever bodies of water are in between.

2) There are 2 forms of chat, there is Global chat, which is where this message is, then there are private chats, you have a private chat with every other country there is. These are not "chat rooms" where everyone cant sit around and chit chat with each other with that country. These are 1 to 1 private chats, only you and that country can read them. This is meant for private communication.

3) There are several phases to a turn, there is the Spring, Fall, and Retreat / Build / Disband phase. We are currently in the Spring turn, the next turn will be the Fall turn. You do not get to build until after the fall turn. So if you take a country it does not become yours unless you keep it through the fall. If you do not own it in the fall it does not count towards the building of new troops.

4) Turns are 3 days in length or until each player is "ready". You can save your orders but not be ready if you are not 100% sure they are finalized. Once you are comfortable with your orders select Ready. This will set you to a Green check next to your name saying you are ready for the turn to complete. If all players ready up early the turn automatically continues to the next phase even if the 3 days are not up yet. On the other side. If you do not submit your orders and select ready and the 3 days expire the orders are automatically submitted as is. If you have not selected anything at this point all units hold their position and the turn proceeds. In this regard we are a bit in control of the pace of the game. If everyone is ready quicker the game will go quicker. the 3 days turn time is just a cut off to prevent us from being stuck waiting for someone.
21 Feb 13 UTC Spring, 2000: [Ghana]:Just a reminder, if you are all set with your orders you can also click the "Ready" button as well as save. This will allow the game to progress early if everyone has clicked ready.
22 Feb 13 UTC Spring, 2000: [China]:Clicked Ready, I think I'm good now.
23 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Ghana]:Please remember. You do not own a country after the spring turn. You must hold it through the fall turn. If you captured a supply point this turn you must defend it through the next turn for it to count.
23 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Ghana]:Also just a reminder, the rules are located here:
http://webdiplomacy.net/help.php

and there is a youtube video explaining the general diplomacy rules here as well:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlTMEYtjS-0

Please keep in mind we are playing a slightly different version than in the video so ignore the version specific info and focus on the general rules and game play.
26 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Ghana]:Good first round everyone. Are there any questions on what happened and why it happened the way that it did?

Also if possible please try to log in for a minute or 2 every day. Communication is key in this game. If you have a message waiting for you please take a moment to read it and reply if its something you would like to reply to. Also the sooner the orders are in the quicker things progress, this is ESPECIALLY true for build and retreat phases. If there is one country that has to retreat everyone else is waiting for that person.
26 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Europe]:There's been an Elvis sighting in Brazil! There's also gold in Australia!
26 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Kenya]:ELVIS!!! *swoon*
26 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [USA]:Australia, Australia, we love you. Amen.
27 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Europe]:There's been an Elvis sighting in Brazil! There's also gold in Australia!
27 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Ghana]:I have a strong feeling that I've heard this before, i just cant put my finger on it. Its not groundhog day today is it?
27 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [USA]:Check the exits!
27 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Ghana]:Please be sure to mark your orders as READY when they are complete. We can not proceed early if you only select Save.
27 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Ghana]:Looking at some of the written orders i have noticed some people are attempting support moves. Support moves come as Support Hold and Support Move, you need to match the type of order that the supporting unit is attempting, you cant issue a support hold to a unit that is moving. Further details can be found in help. Or if you are comfortable asking questions to myself or the USA we both are familiar with the rules and would be glad to answer questions
28 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Argentina]:Russia, put down the bottle and submit your orders!
28 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Ghana]:maybe Russia is just not interested in starting a new Cold War. Can you really blame them?
28 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Argentina]:Also, Libya stop killing ambassadors and click 'ready'!
28 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [Europe]:There's been an Elvis sighting in Brazil! There's also gold in Australia!
28 Feb 13 UTC Autumn, 2000: [USA]:Shit, someone set Europe on repeat, get ready for another world war, guys. Also perhaps another dark ages.
