17 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1902: Good idea - I'll see if V wants my spot.
17 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1902: V is here
17 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: Some good examples of various things here - will post on the dungeons.
18 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: is Vuroth Germany now?
18 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: Yep
18 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: AW CRAP, I missed a turn
18 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: And Vuroth is not talking to me!
18 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: Seems we have quite a few absent people. Not sure how long it takes before an empire falls into civil disorder but hopefully we'll all be back before then.
18 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: By the way, it's now the building phase, so if your number of SCs is unchanged you won't need to do anything this turn. If anyone with building options wants some ideas send me a message.
19 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: Shoot I think I missed a day? :(
19 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1902: You and lots of other people; not a problem. The purpose of this game isn't so much winning as getting the hang of orders and the combat mechanics, so please feel free to ask me if you're not sure what to do next or how to turn your plan into orders (and that goes for everyone else).
21 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1903: What is "Retreats" and how does it work?
21 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1903: I think it happens when you get your ass kicked out of a region. So you have to move that unit to a bordering region you control.
21 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1903: Spot on. If there's nowhere it can legally move to (and you can't move to the territory which your attacker came from) your unit is disbanded.
21 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1903: Clarification: if you're dislodged by an attack, you are NOT PERMITTED to move to the territory which your attacker came from.
21 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1903: GameMaster: vuroth has taken over Turkey.
21 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1903: I am a turkey jelly donut.
21 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1903: Excellent! Thanks Vuroth, I look forward to feasting on the delicious goo inside you, metaphorically speaking.
21 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1903: WTB someone to take over France so we can move this thing along. From the looks of things, they won't have to do much...just wait to die. :p
21 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: I thought if we held our spot in Spring that we gain control of another unit? Now I'm confused!
21 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: Of a territory with a SC, that is..sorry for the confusion.
21 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: You need to hold the territory at the end of the Fall turn, so you'll get your new unit after this turn.
21 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: Aha! Sorry about that, I thought I had read Spring. :D
22 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: I think it's time France surrendered.
22 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: That would be realistic...
22 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: We really need France to stop holding it up
22 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: Will it fall into Civil Disorder?
22 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: At some point, but not sure when. In any case, once someone takes Paris there will be no more France.
22 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: Shame we'll have to wait 24 hours for unit placing, though
22 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: Comments on Fall 1903 are on the dungeons.
22 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1903: Oh lord, Celi gets two new units. We need to do something about this or we'll all be riding Vespas by the end of the decade.
23 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1904: what are the little explosions? that unit is gone next turn? can the territories be moved into?
23 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1904: Units with little yellow stars are new, territories with a big red explosion have just disbanded a unit. So yes, they are empty and can be moved into.
23 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1904: So in the case of Gaucia he lost an SC and chose to disband the army in Gaucia?
23 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1904: Yes, that's right. France's unit was presumably disbanded at random.
24 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1904: Everyone: please road the thread on the dungeons for the link to join game 2.
24 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1904: Can armies support attacks/holds on units in the sea?
24 Apr 09 UTC Spring, 1904: No, only fleets can provide support to sea territories (though both fleets and armies can support coastal territories).
24 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1904: This "coast" stuff confuses me. If my army is on the Spanish south coast does that restrict its movements to things that border the south coast? How do I define the south coast?
24 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1904: Yes, and the same applies to Bulgaria and St Petersburg. A fleet can only move along the cost to a territory which is adjacent along that cost. So from Spain (south coast) you can move to Portugal or Marseilles but not to Spain (north coast) or Gascony.

So to answer your second question, the south coast of Spain stretches from Portugal in the west to Marseilles in the east.
24 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1904: Is there something I can reference for future coast/border questions?
24 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1904: "cost" = "coast".
24 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1904: Yes, page five of the manual.
28 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1905: aw crap i missed a turn
28 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1905: AND AUSTRIA TOOK MY NAPLES
28 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1905: I would have taken your venice as well if I'd known you weren't paying attention :(
28 Apr 09 UTC Autumn, 1905: If anyone wants to join in another 24-hour game (not Dungeons) there are currently three spots here: http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=10431
01 May 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: Someone might wanna do something about Germany, just a thought...
02 May 09 UTC Autumn, 1906: Germany, go to your room!
08 May 09 UTC Spring, 1909: Gah, dammit, got stuck in traffic!
