- Re: Odd Retreat in World
OK, thanks for the replies. Made a complete hash of my otherwise decent strategy...have to remember that one! :
- Re: HELP Admin...busted game.
I suppose such htings are possible, although I've played a bunch of games and this never happened before and another player in the game posted that he saw my position in Ready status...and still nothing happened. :
- Re: Playing Italy
Italy is fun because it has so many options, and often one of the best is patience. But if it can be done, an EGI against France followed by partnering with one of them against the other is great fun. I tend to prefer partnering with Germany in the long run (that way I get Iberia early and am into the Atlantic). I have partnered with England and it can get dicey as the more successful you are against Germany, the more likely the Russian comes up the winner. And never (well almost never) attack Austria early...it just means you get eaten by the JUG next. Turkey must fall first. :
- Re: Question for Tettleton's Chew
Busts have been part of capitalism from the beginning as have booms -- you can't "ban" them. The bad thing about this one was that the core of the banking system got tied up in investing. Last time around the Savings & Loans could be totally wiped out in a bust and the rest of the economy could chug along. This time, we allowed the core financial institutions to play -- and now it is subsidized and paralyzed. The one regulatory change that we need to do is to go back to a clear seperation between investment houses by whatever name and core banking functions. :
