The next Diplomacy World Championships (WDC) will be held in Paris on the weekend of August 23-25 2013.
This is the first European-hosted WDC for three years, and a welcome return to Paris after 12 years.
Accommodation is at Hotel la Louisiane (a.k.a. “Bastille-Blanchot”!). Address: 60 rue de Seine 75006 Paris. There is a 50% discount for European players.
The tournament location is lycée Norte dame des oiseaux, Rue Michel ange in Paris (near the station Michel ange on line 10 and 9, which is direct from the hotel). There is no tournament fee, but donations gratefully received to cover costs of trophies etc.
The tournament starts on Friday morning around 10am and ends on Sunday afternoon around 3pm.
There will be 4 qualifying rounds for a top board. Winner of top board is the world champion.
Games will last until Fall 1907, or by unanimous vote beforehand. Food & drinks will be available at the tournament.
The scoring is system is called “Super Pastis”. This system promotes someone who tops the board with a good break. Otherwise, be as close to the leader as possible.
The official Diplomacy language will be English. There will be a website for the event soon.
