Caricatures - Public Press game
This was one that we did a while back and I thought it was fun. A public press game where everyone assumes a stereotypical accent.

ie Austria-Hungary types like John Cleese in the phrase book skit "EYE vill nut boiy dis record, it is skretched".

Speak if you guys want. I know my first comment is: I have no idea how the hell I made this happen by pissing off all 3 of my initial enemies. This is a perfect example of how you CAN make something happen without allies...lol

no messaging games are not diplomacy
diplomacy is the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of groups or states. you cant do that without contact. so why the hell are there so many anon no messaging games these days?

LA Times, BBC News, and other outlets reporting Egypt's parliament has been dissolved by their high court while keeping a Mubarak supporter on the ballot for the Presidential Election. Thoughts?

pretending to CD
Ive tried this in a recent gunboat game, and it actually ended up working out fairly well. Is pretending to CD a valid strategy?

Apples and oranges
I've seen a number of discussions on the forums recently comparing two positions or ideas that are too different to reach a valid conclusion about which is better. Since invalid comparisons are in vogue right now, I thought we might discuss the classic: apples vs oranges. Go!

For debate: When is a gunboat not really a gunboat?
Hey gang: I accidentally clicked onto a gunboat game and now have no real way of backing out. Others are not really being acquiescent about a Cancel, so it looks like I'm (more or less) stuck. So instead, I'm setting up this thread as a potential discussion spot for gameID=91706. If players are talking here, is it still gunboat?

I am going to work on composing an EOG right now, but i am kind of busy. I will probably have it up by this evening.

The main thing i have to say is good game. I ended up trusting Turkey too much and almost paid the price. Interested to hear the other people's opinions on how the game went

Sorry Fortress. It was pretty sleazy to betray you there. I was planning on drawing eventually either way I just didnt want a bunch of fluff to get part of the draw because truly there were only 3 contenders in this fight. Germany was the 4th but things took a turn for the worst for them mostly due to a quickly weakened England and a very strong France

its fine :p. To be honest, the only suprise was that you didn't stab me earlier :p

I kind of agree with you, Germany got sandwhiched between me and France.

EOG is coming up right now

As Austria, I was dead as soon as Italy went for the Bohemian Crusher. Defense from that strategy demands so many units that I knew Russia and Turkey would jump in too. But it's a suicide strategy for Italy too: having used three units to attack me, he left his south unguarded and lost miserably.
Fortress Door (1837 D)

^ true. To use the opening you need to have full trust with Turkey.

I am kind of suprised i did so well. I started as a Russia with no builds (darn misorders!), and ended up drawing with skilled opennents

Wow Sarge, how come you voted draw on that one? You had a chance to stuff it through. I might've made them work a little more for it before I drew that. Though maybe you just couldn't get that excited about 70 piddly points? ;-)
Fortress Door (1837 D)
14 Jun 12 UTC
^ i was kind of wondering that to. I think, working together, we could've made the game last a bit longer, and possibily France might of soloed. Some explanation would eb nice
Sargmacher (0 DX)

Thanks for the compliments.

I drew for a number of reasons:
1. The game had dragged for a while, mostly because some douche bag refused to press ready.
2. It dragged so long (because of point 1) that I couldn't afford or be bothered to waste another 1 hour + trying to solo.
3. Turkey and Russia played well enough so I thought it would be nice to draw rather than push the game further and possibly win simply because they might resign.
4. I don't really care about the points - I just wanted to play a fun game. I had about as much fun as I was going to get and it would not have been fun for me to keep playing the game rather to the point that I would not have had some dinner ready when my partner got home from work :)
Fortress Door (1837 D)

^ just for the record, i would not have resigned.

but thanks for the compliments, though i think i did so well simply because England and Germany were not all that good.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

I thought the talent was pretty well spread across all the other powers really. I don't think England and Germany can be any more singled out than Italy or Austria.
cspieker (18223 D)
14 Jun 12 UTC
That's kind of what I thought.

Why TF did Russia go to Baltic for instead of a guaranteed Sweden in 1901? Misorder?
Sargmacher (0 DX)

Or one can ask! Hey Fortess_Door, what happened there? Brain fart?
Fortress Door (1837 D)

my main reason for England is because he did not go for St. Petersburg until it was too late to do anything about it.

Germany i am annoyed with because he resigned, but still decided to keep the Skagerrak fleet instead of at least making France ifght for Edinburgh

yes, going to the Batlic was a HORRIBLE MISORDER --_--. You should've heard me when i saw thsoe results
Fortress Door (1837 D)

and France, i am just curious, why did you go for Norway, which i was easily able to block, and not Berlin, which i could NOT have blocked?

My NHL Nightmare Season Is Complete--Kings Win the Cup
First the Ducks play up and down and then completely bottom out to 13th place...
Then the Rangers blow it...
And now...now, the worst team possible to win the Cup for a Ducks fan...great win for the Kings, they deserved it, though.
