EoG: For Beginners Only-2
This is my first attempt at an EoG. I hoping to get the reasoning from Egypt for why they played the way they did.

Combating complacency.
Nearly every time I win a game I end up making really, really stupid mistakes in other games. This is a word of warning to other players: Don't get lazy or complacent if you do well once. Learning that lesson is part of what separates the good from the great... not even just in Diplomacy, but life in general.

What's the weirdest thing you do?
Me, I think in accents. I'm not even joking either. It's probably one of the strangest things I do. The accents I think in most commonly are British, Australian, and Jersey accents. Though I use Russian and French accents quite a lot. With the occasional pirate accent.

Is it dishonest to tell lies in this game? How far can you go in telling a lie? I found my self taking a piece of land backed up with a lie...:-)

Anyone else get nearly this far? I'd probably have gotten bored, oh, about a millenium before that.

Hello. I suspect that several players in one of my games are one person. What should I do in this case? Is it possible to check this hypothesis?

New Initiative: Clearing out old unfinished games
I am going to be responsible for clearing out old paused discontinued games. It will take me a while, so if you have a game in mind, let me know and I will make it a priority.
Hopefully this will clear up the "join games" option so more people would be willing to take on games with CDs.

Don't Miss This!
Check out yesterday's and today's Bible readings from Chapters 1 and 2 of the Book of Acts, the story of the early church. There's something in Chapter 2 about devout Jews from many countries, and there's even something in there for socialists. :-)

NO WAY...just no way...saw this fight after the Devils/Kings game at Buffalo Wild wings--woo, another Kings loss, keep it going in Game 6, Marty!--and NO WAY...EVERYONE had this one scored for Pacquiao, clearly the winner, I don't know HOW 2/3 judges scored it for Bradley--thoughts?

okay some thoughts here...

Austria opened up against Italy, when Italy opened up very pro Austria. Any player who is playing Austria who opens up against italy in GB, well, you have enough problems

Turkey. This person had the world handed to him on a platter, and still managed to not get a draw.

He had the stalemate line set almost when france was still around, and 100% with italy trying to move in for it.

Russia and it set in the north, Turkey in the middle with Russia, and a few Turk fleets and its set in the ,ed

Turkey then stabs BOTH Russia and Italy, who promptly hand teh game to England.

France Horrible Had a good start, and trusted England waayyyyyyyyyyyyy to much. Paid the price. He went heavy fleets against Italy who was set up vs Turkey and Russia, and England butt raped him.

In future, when you have france with 3 fleets, attack England, Italy isnt going anywhere fast...lol

Stressedlines (1559 D)

Turkey really screwed this up the most. He had a FEW chances to get into a 4 way draw, and insisted on takign centers from teh 2 people he needed to get that draw.

England would have hit draw if the stalemate line was reached, but damn. Seriously? That was one of the worst moves I ever saw in live GB.

i was turkey and i did get greedy in trying to go for the win and it cost us the draw. sorry to the other players for that.

As achillies pointed out to me, this is the second time in recent memory that I (France) ended up trusting England too much and paid for it. I still had my eyes on Russia as the biggest threat, and was thinking England had the same. Should have seen it coming. That and some routine rookie mistakes let to the inevitable.

Nonetheless, enjoyable game. I'm always glad to learn from some of the better players on the site, and this was definitely one of those games. Look forward to playing y'all again.

"butt raped"?
Stressedlines (1559 D)
11 Jun 12 UTC
you had less than 1% chance for a solo Your ONLY shot was England CDing.

Notice exactly what Russia and italy did when you stabbed them?

They handed centers to England...lol

jm, when you play in a game where you can tell some of the players are better than your run of the mill trash, keep thsi in mind.

If you attack them for no reason (li9ke you did with me) they WILl turn on you 100%, and let someone else have their centers.

You managed to get tunis from your stab on italy, and then We all watched SD have his way with you for that.

I was really shocked that a 3 fleet france would not go for England after Germany, when Italy Russia and Turkey were locked up in a tight fight in the south, you had no chance of Italy coming after you.

lol....sure achilles...But France really did leave his backside open to England.

I was shocked he did tno get him a little earlier actually.

Stressed -- again, at the time, I thought of England as a partner interested in helping me take on Russia. Since Germany was on the ropes, that left only you to even attempt to go after. And, when I saw all the mutual holds in Autumn '03, that convinced me. You were the next in line, easiest to get at, and not interested (from my view) in fighting Russia. That meant that *I* was probably *your* next target. All of which directed my attention towards you.

Did it work out? Hell no. Not in the slightest. Clearly. But it wasn't a random act, from my point of view. And hell, I'm one of the "run of the mill trash" -- I don't really have enough experience with gunboat to tell who's amazing and who isn't.

Thanks for the feedback, though -- as mentioned, each game with the great players here teaches me more.

Haha -- well aside from Germany and I, everyone else in the game is top 15% according to their profile stats. In fact, everyone but Turkey is top 5%. That's good company. :)
