So, has anyone ever seena triple build 01 Italy?
Just wondedring if it is one of the rarest 01 occurences or not.

Yeah, I've seen Italy take Tunis, Trieste, and Serbia. But it is rare.

Greece, trieste, piedmontnis waay better. A little harder to pull off...

Triple Italy is probably on-par with Turkey in terms of rareness. I'd say in order from most to least likely triple build, it looks like;

France
Austria/Germany
Russia/Italy
Turkey
England
I've seen multiple Marseilles, Trieste, Tunisia ones. I've never seen them not die in a fire shortly afterward, however.

I've also seen Vienna, Trieste, Tunisia; that one's usually pretty damn strong.

You don't have many options. Trieste must be one of them, the second must be Tunisia or Greece, so that leaves you Marseilles, Munich, or another Austrian-sphere center. Your best bet is probably either a Western center, Tunisia, and Trieste with Austrian permission (say to get the double-fleet build, though of course you shouldn't let on to Austria that you expect to get that third one), or Trieste, Tunisia and an Austrian one as a full-on assault against Austria with Russian/Turkish help.
As for all of them...

France and Germany are the easiest ones, they have 2 centers no one contests and a fair claim to a third.

Austria's next, all it takes is a friendly Italy and a broken DMZ in Galicia, neither of which are too too hard to get. Not a sure thing by any stretch, but it's there.

Russia after that - presumably your third is Vienna or Budapest, and you've got a friendly German and Turk. Probably about equal to Austria in terms of rarity.

Several steps behind that is Italy, who's either got careful diplomacy with the West and Austria or a bloodlust and a plan against the Archduke. Notably more difficult, hence several steps down...

...but still ahead of Turkey, which essentially requires Russia not to submit orders...

...which still beats England, which literally cannot acquire three builds without virtual multi-accounting with France and Germany (F Bre -> ECH, A Lvp -> Wal, F ECH C A Wal -> Bre while F Edi -> NWS -> Nwy and F Lon -> NTH -> Den/Hol).

I did it one time: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=4374#gamePanel

It was a long time ago, and I was stuck between the two most feared people on the webDip, the scariest of the scary was France, and I could not resist a bit of security in 1901, though I still feel a little bad about it... I would do things differently in that game today, or at least I'd like to think, but hindsight is 20/20...

I've never had the triple build in 1901, but I had one game as a 7 center Italy w/o Tunis in 1902 (gameID=72647). Ended up as a draw, but Italy completely dominating the Balkans right away is a great feeling.
Draugnar (0 DX)

I'd think attacking two nations at the same time would be foolish. If I were doing it, I'd think I'd either Key Lepanto for real with Austria and go after France or Germany. or just take out Austria with a fake Key.
2ndWhiteLine (2736 D(B))
09 Jun 12 UTC
There are only so many scenarios where you can go +3 as Italy. You need a massively idiotic Austria, or manage to slip into Trieste/Munich unopposed in F1901, or fake a Key and grab Trieste and Serbia. Split's is my favorite so far, taking Marseilles and Trieste, but I'd love to see an Italy that takes Mar/Mun, Trie, and Greece in 1901, That would be epic.
Draugnar (0 DX)
09 Jun 12 UTC
The one I saw was Tun, Tri, and Bud, decimating Austria.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
09 Jun 12 UTC
Wow. It does *not* take a "massively idiotic Austria", 2WL, to succeed in diplomacy you must risk/trust, sometimes taking a chance pays off, other times not so much...
centurion1 (1478 D)
09 Jun 12 UTC
ive done all of them except england which is essentially impossible. play enough games you eventually get lucky.

france- obviously easy too do
germany, same
russia- if you have benevolent northerners and dont get bounced in galicia your in.
austria- if your facing a fighting at and get into galicia, you can make a move for warsaw or rumania along with greece and serbia obviously. laos need a friendly italy
turkey-need a massively stupid russia. get rumania somehow in a deal and then move to serbi or greece nd move through
italy- need a pretty bad austria. move venice tyrolia and then go for tunis. somehow convince austria your still his friend and take vienna and trieste.

most need pretty bad players on the other side though.

3 build Russia - not so impressive. Now a 4 build Russia in Fall 1901, that is impressive.
taos (281 D)

no way for russia 4 build 1901.
yes in theory but.......
2ndWhiteLine (2736 D(B))

Four build Russia is definitely doable. You'd need Turkish cooperation to help you into Bulgaria, or you stab Turkey, take the Black, and park yourself in a home center.
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))
09 Jun 12 UTC
I agree with MM. Sometimes as Austria, or any country, when you find yourself in a bad situation, you habe to trust someone, even when you have no one to trust, and make yourself more vulnerable in hopes someone is telling the truth. If you never trust anyone in the game, you usually cause your own downfall.
Four build Russia is definitely doable.
- You open North. England is being attacked by France, or England is actively attacking France and is supporting himself to Belgium. In any case, England allows you to have Norway, and Germany doesn't bounce Sweden (because he opened to Holland or you talke him out of it).
-You open Sev-Rum, War-Ukr and Austria supports Rum-Bul in the fall

This ignores the possibility of opening War-Sil and scoring a German home center or War-Gal and destroying Austria.
I think I can devise a scenario for a three-build England. You open to Wal/Nth/Nwg. France opens to Gas/Spa/Eng, Germany to Ruh/Kie/Den and Russia to Silesia.

In the fall turn, you convince France that his arranged Sealion plan isn't working, and ask for a convoy to Belgium. For him, there's not much point in attack you with help, so he's better off in a 3-vs-1 on Germany. Since he doesn't have armies and Russia is already attacking German home centers, he decides to attack as quickly as possible.

Germany moves Ruh-Mun, Kie-Hol, Den-Swe. Russia moves Sil-Ber and (as you cleverly arranged) Gob-Bal! Leaving Denmark, Belgium and Norway for you.

It does take a master of diplomacy to pull it off, but it's not impossible.

I once got a 4 build in Russia on a board once and I ended up having no friends except Austria who was crushed early, so I lost pretty quickly. Stabbed Turkey right away, took Ankara, got Rumania, Bulgaria, and Sweden.
Draugnar (0 DX)
09 Jun 12 UTC
Gameid or it didn't happen especially as Mos and War can only reach Rum without a convoy and yoi need the fleet to hit Ank or Bulk. It is an impossible scenario so you are lying.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
09 Jun 12 UTC
I remember someone else getting four builds as Russia in 1901,one of the builds was one of my Austrian home centers. I died quickly, but so did this Russian, suppose four builds in 1901 makes everyone else in the game that cannot do it jealous, or scared...
Draugnar (0 DX)
09 Jun 12 UTC
Four isnt impossible, but the four both mentioned are as one unit has to move through three territories to get there and the fleet has to take an school so cannot convoy.

This is the eleventh game I finished on this site, I won the first ten, ao every one of my neighbors took turns lying to me (no anonymous games back then) and were he'll bent on killing me off quickly. Hey, I wonder if that's why England let Russia have Norway, to get Russia even more builds to kill me off, I was so screwed in that game, and for quite a while with that record, I remember purposely joining a bunch of gunboat to rack up some defeats and survives so people wouldn't metagame so much against me, but I digress...
Draugnar (0 DX)
09 Jun 12 UTC
Mos can take Rum or Nwy. StP Fleet only has Swe. War has Ber, Mun, Vie, Rum, or Bud. The fleet in Sev has Rum, Bul, Ank, or Con. As you can see, only Sev can reach Ank and Bul so Ank Bul Rum and Swe are an impossible opening 4
Draugnar (0 DX)
09 Jun 12 UTC
There is technically one way it could happen and that is if you multied Turkey so he would let you in Ank and convoy an army to Bul at the same time.

Madmarx, impressive game. Your italy took out austria while fighting turkey, then took out turkey with russia amd then moved on to help remove russia die of 'natural causes'

And in the end the western powers were still bickering with each other unable to stop you, bravo sir.

I like england's: lvp - wales (french F EC convoy wales - belguim, not stopping france from picking up spain and portugal) meanwhile F london - north - den/hol AND F edi - norw - norway. That could be the start of a pretty amazing alliance.

Zmaj (215 D(B))
10 Jun 12 UTC
I'm not absolutely speechless, but I can say only "fucking hell..." It was Draugnar's finest hour.
@The flying boat: see my earlier post.

Germany moves to Ruh/Kie/Den, then to Hol, Swe (expecting a bounce, but getting in!) and back to Mun (to defend against an army in Tyr/Sil). I think gaining Holland is harder, because Germany will almost always try to pick it up.
