Gunboat Cheater Message
I am playing a WorldDip gunboat game, and a guy was kicked off. The admin sent a notification, of course. However, the message cannot be read because there is no in game messaging, and displays as a permanent alert across the top of my page. What to do?

Why is my countdown clock perfectly in-sync some days and horribly off on others?
Today is is perfect... well a 2 second differential on the turn count-down timer. Other days its 30-40 seconds off. Same computer... same internet connection... what gives.

I wanted to do this behind the scenes, but can't seem to find anyone, so I had to pause one of the games and am putting out a call for a replacement player. Someone has to leave and I can't push the games forward until I've found someone else. It's a good position, please message me!

Speaking at you as the legal muscle behind the APOAL (Apocryphal Printers' Organisation, Amalgamated with Leftie.) (BTW Leftie is the other kinda muscle you seriously don't want to meet, even on a clear and sunny day in a nice part of town.)
Anyway, almost forgot the topic of our one-way conversation ie monologue.
We wish to express our outrage at the way in which our printers are being treated.
Being physically manhandled is not acceptable. Womanhandling is especially abhorred.
Being incarcerated in your car's trunk (probably quite capacious, but perhaps not enough to provide our client with the wherewithal to survive) for hours upon hours until you are ready to release him for enough time to get your grubby old paper out . . . is definitely not acceptable.
(Hope he got a rest-break. Otherwise, there's also a Health and Safety suit pending.)
The Management's lackey (much more dangerous)
ps We would like our printer back if you aren't using or abusing him right. He was pretty nifty at getting in the lunch take-aways. Only screwed up my order twice in 6 months. You see, you may have other uses for him.
pps His dad's a computer. Has all the latest gear and knowhow. Now that's someone you may prefer in your trunk. However, he's crap at take-aways.

Oh, *hell* no! He didn't just dis Office Space without seeing it, did he?! Dude, if you have ever, *ever* worked in a cube, it is the movie that described that living hell and made it all worthwhile. Do *not* disrespect the movie, dude!

Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Apr 12 UTC
@Timur - It puts that living hell into contrast with how to survive it and even enjoy your life. Seriously, unless you have no funny bone, you *will* enjoy this film. And if you don't watch it, well, your loss I guess.
Timur (684 D(B))
25 Apr 12 UTC

If you can get it, just start with part one above. If you don't like the first 20 minutes, don't watch any more. At least you will have given it a shot.

If timur wants to be closed-minded and judge before he sees it/knows anything about it....then let him. Sadly, it seems a prevalent attitude on any number of topics around here. I do wonder, though, exactly how small self-defined box he lives in is...
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Apr 12 UTC
@krellin - Is not Office Space the greatest movie about cubicle life *ever*?
krellin (80 DX)
25 Apr 12 UTC
Office Space is, indeed, movie perfection in capturing the hell that is cubicle life, as Dilbert so captures engineering communities.

Even my daughters find the *edited* version of the movie hilarious.

OFFICE SPACE IS THE BEST COMEDY EVER! SORRY JUST HAD TO ADD THAT GUYS - MILTON LOOOL
Timur (684 D(B))
26 Apr 12 UTC
@krellin: I am neither closed-minded nor judgmental, IMHO.
My self-defined box is MY self-defined box, no matter the cubic metre, so just f* off and find your own box.
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 Apr 12 UTC
@Timur - Did you find a way to get at least part of Office Space down and watch it?
krellin (80 DX)
26 Apr 12 UTC
"Think I might prefer to miss out on this piece of globalisation. "
"Why do I want to watch a movie that describes a living hell?"

Seemed rather judgemental and closed minded. People are raving about something being hilarious and totally worth watching, and your attitude was dismissive. Seemed rather closed-minded and judgemental. As did you "Fuck off" comment. And...if you're gonna say, put on your big boy panties and spell it out.

Playing in Anonymous Games
Are there signals people use when playing in anonymous games? I play totally independently because I know no-one, but looking at how others play there does seem to be some interesting collaboration. For example if you hold an opposition unit is that a signal for something?

Boys in Pseudo-Postal
There are four cancel votes. I think this is a good idea, and I think we should all try to play again, but it is clear that everyone is too busy right now to communicate proper. I would be willing to pause for an indefinite amount of time if that's the preference, but the consensus right now is a cancel. (Sorry this isn't through the mail system, I think we need a quick decision since the deadline is fast approaching.) Please post your thoughts, objections, concerns here.
