So, I was thinking, the one nice thing about the Cold War was that NASA got tons of money to just be awesome. People were excited about science and we developed a lot of cool technology. Why can't we have another Space Race? Surely China or India would be up for the challenge.
I was wondering - without insisting on an immediate verdict - whether my email & thread about the sending of screenshots had been taken into consideration? If it is, I'll shut up again, just curious whether it is in the pipeline.
Because there are those who complain about a lack of Diplomacy Topics
One of the weakest parts of my game is that I don't go to other players with plans, but rather listen to plans, and adapt my strategy. Do you prefer to engage first, or listen to others? And how would you suggest I improve upon actively engaging with other players with ideas rather than waiting for them to come to me?
Apparently, you cannot mute a banned player. I discovered this when I tried muting bullshiot threads to make scouring the forums for an old thread easier. Curious indeed. By one's banning, they become like the mods: immutable.
After nearly 3 months of rigorous discipline in not responding to political bolshoi threads (from both sides) on the forum I've had a relapse. Help me Randall!!! http://xkcd.com/597/ http://xkcd.com/386/
We're almost at 28 so I think we should maybe wait until we get there instead of cutting people who are interested in playing.
So, that's 3 spots still open. Any interest anyone?
I'm thinking we'll have 420/n scoring system. 48hr for pp, 36hr for gb and fp. There will be 6 games that will start in groups of 2 spaced apart by a month.
1. PP/FP 2. FP/GB 3. PP/GB
Using the diplomacy tournament software I can optimize it so that nobody plays the same power twice and playing the same player multiple times is minimized (although obviously not unavoidable).
I've never run a tournament before so maybe a mod can let me know what the preferred way to receive country assignments is. I'm thinking that I'll enter the names into the software as people's userIDs. That way I can create the heats without seeing what country everyone is assigned as. In Excel, I can get the IDs to show each person's user name but to not show country assignments so I can at least know who should be playing in each game. If I can just give the mods the userIDs and country assignments for each game, that'd be perfect.
Seems like a bit of a roundabout way of doing things so, if anyone has a better idea, let me know.
ok, I've set shit up. Still not clean and pretty but I just bought a ps3 so, suck it. I'll do it later. Here's a link to the spreadsheet: http://tinyurl.com/WebDipTraithlon
Here's what I need from everyone....
If you are the first name listed in the game you are responsible for creating the game AND inviting everyone else to it.
When you create a game, please set the join length and phase length to TEN DAY PHASES. Then, give me the game link and I will ask the mods to shuffle the countries and set the phase length.
Also, please make the game names something logical so we can keep track easier. Sorry if you're responsible for making several games but it's sorted by userID. You can defer to someone else, I don't really care as long as it gets done.
We are only creating heats one and two now. Heat one is full press and heat two is public press.

Well, I need to go get my laundry from machine and pitch another couple of innings in AA. Let me know if you see any glaring issues. Otherwise, good luck to everyone and hopefully this runs (relatively) smoothly.
