Teach a group of high school students to play Diplomacy, akin to SoW
I am a high school teacher, and we have a Diplomacy club. We are going to start an online game, and I was wondering if there are people interested in walking them through the game.

vdiplomacy.com: what is it?
I found a mysterious website called vdiplomacy.com. It claims to be webdiplomacy and has a similar format, but it's not exactly the same, and it has lots of variants available. Anyone know what this is all about?

I would like to add a few comments, but need more time - perhaps tomorrow. But I did want t add that I absolutely enjoyed reading these EOGs, and appreciate those that put the time and effort into them. I learned a lot in this game, and I still feel the weakest element of my game is the "late-game" stage where I don't have the cut-throat instinct to solo. I do plenty of cut-throat play earlier on, but when it gets near the end, I can't seem to do as well as some others in positioning myself or getting across stalemate lines fast enough.

very good analysis thus far. Thanks.

Sorry it's so late, I have been incredibly busy these past few days.

Turkey-EOG

1901- The first thing I thought when I saw that I had gotten Turkey was shit, not again this being my third game in a row drawing Turkey, my least favorite country with the exception of England. My hope was to work with Austria against Russia then Italy, stab Austria, and solo either by holding St.Petersburg, Munich, or Marseilles (I realize nothing ever goes according to plan and my plan is often completely changed after talking to people, but I like to have a general idea of what I want to happen.) In the fall, I saw that Italy and Austria's moves screamed Lepanto and I had already committed myself against Russia. Austria convinced me he was still planning to work with me and promised to support me into Rumania so I decided it was worth the risk and trusted him.

1902- I desperately tried to make peace with Russia and convince Italy to attack Austria but to no avail. In the fall I attempted a bit of diplomacy that had actually worked once before to save me from a triple alliance- I promised all three that I would help Austria solo. This may have been more successful in turning Italy and Russia against Austria had I actually fallowed through for more than one turn, but I doubt it considering the skill of my opponents.

1903- Italy had sworn to do all he could to bring Austria down and Russia also had become more friendly so I was a little more confident that I could make a comeback, until the spring moves showed Italy and Austria continuing their cooperation and Russia under attack from three nations. The fall furthered my despair with Italy surrounding me with fleets and Austria making headway into my only ally, Russia.

1904- Austria kept offering his support for me to take Sevastopol even as he supported Italy into my home centers, perhaps I should have taken his support, I could have survived 1904 with two units and there's a chance things would have turned out differently but instead I decided to give Russia Ankara, thinking this would help give him a fighting chance against Austria, this seeming to me a more worthwhile way to die then rotting away at the hands of the Lepanto.

I believe my biggest mistake was committing myself in spring 1901 rather than waiting, had I made the default Turkish moves (Bul, Con, + BLA) I probably would have tried to pull off a Juggernaut. My second fatal mistake was not turning around and working with Russia when I had the chance in fall 01. Still, a fun game, I thoroughly enjoyed getting a chance to play with some of the best players on the site.

"New Game" dosn't work.
When I go to games, I can't access the new games tab, forcing me to make my own game everytime I want to play. Is there a fix? It says "New game~28" And then it says no new games avaidable.

Alabama or Oklahoma St.?
Which one deserves to get the second spot in the nat'l championship? Both are 1-1, oklahoma state has a conference title and more wins against ranked opponents, but alabama plays in a tougher division and had only lost to the no. 1 team, LSU. What do you guys think?

New 'variant' suggestion
A gunboat variant where you could see who had joined but did not know who played each country. That would allow you to screen who you played with and could avoid obvious cheating red flags. Just a thought.

Face to Face game via webcam
I thought of a good idea, arrange a face to face game via Skype or gmail chat. It would be fun and ann another dimension to the game and make it close to a real face to face except yo arn't next to one another. Post about ideas thoughts or interest.

Who will win the Heisman?
Statistically, Griffin III should be a shoe-in.

Richardson would be the #2, but he isn't even in the top 5 in rushing this season.

Sitter?
I need a sitter. I'm in two games, both of them at least 1 and a half days per phase.

I apologize to the people I am playing against. Real life has become too hectic for me to continue to play here.
