And is anyone familiar with the new AMD bulldozer 8 core processor? I hope to use it.

You may have tried installing Open office from a bogus site and gotten a virus that way, but you did not actually get the virus from Open Office. You could have also clicked a program masquerading as an update for open office, but I promise you that open office does not give people viruses.

i downloaded it from the OO official site.

You might have been hit with a macro worm, (and this is likely, OO had issues a few years ago) but I doubt it damaged your drive beyong download a few entertaining pictures. MS Office isn't any better on macros, we broke Office 2007 a couple of years ago as a course project - effectively downloading a word doc opens a backdoor on the target. What's usually needed is more aware users.

"A nasty little worm it was too, went straight for my hard drive."

LOL D33, you're so full of shit.

Where the fuck else would it go? HW viruses that affect anything but the HDD are extremely rare and most certainly did *not* come from OOo

This thread makes me laugh every time I read it. I don't know anything about computers but can still enjoy watching Diplomat make an ass out of himself. Diplomat: If you don't know much about something, don't pretend you do. There is no shame in not understanding and asking for advice....

while i agree with all of that the 8 core amd cpu is a waste of money you are all missing one major point. all the new amd chips are apu's and not your ordinary cpu's. and one could probably forgo a graphics card entirely as the graphics in the apu are actually quite impressive on amds. intel's sandy bridge graphics are rubish. although if you were to build a "true" gaming rig you would actually be better going after an intel x58 chipset and doing a dual graphics( 2 graphics cards sli'd) and a physics card. and if you wanted overclock it as it get older.

now for an normal gaming get a cheaper quad-core anything more then 8gb of ram is a bit over the top. and a nice graphics card. the most important thing to remember with these kind of builds is to check bus speeds(and latency timings, etc) on the parts and make sure their all about the same. other wise their just being wasted.

What was your Diplomacy experience before Webdiplomacy?
For some people this is where it all started. For others, they had been playing face to face or on other websites, or even here on an earlier account.

Could somebody please explain why FTL neutrinos imply time travel?
I'm just watching "Faster than the Speed of Light" on the BBC with Prof Marcus du Sautoy and they said this (and break cause and effect), but they glossed over the how. I don't get it. How is FTL travel going to break cause and effect let alone time travel?
